My mom grew up on a cotton farm in Enterprise, Alabama, during the Depression. She was a secretary at Napier Field in Dothan in 1943. She went out on a blind date with an Army Air Corps Tech Sergeant from Philly. They married 6 months later, were happily married for 58 years, and had 5 kids. The only finer woman I’ve known than my mom is my wife of 28 years. I’m proud of my connection, and my salt of the earth family who live near it.

I know where you are coming from. My Mother also grew up on a cotton farm (and everything else farm) South of Enterprise, just South of the Alabama line.

I have said it before, she was the best person I ever knew.

My MIL and my wife were both born in Dothan. The MIL married an Army soldier stationed at Camp Rucker.
