It may spur even more hundreds of independent “news sites” with their own reporters. You already see the MSM using footage taken by amateurs (ma and pa videos) and airing them. Nobody can copyright a plane crash, a war, politics, the weather and so on especially with so many cell phones with 1080p capability.
If this goes then Youtube is next.... You can count on that.
Actually that youtube footage of breaking news events DOES carry copyright. It is just that ABCDisney News, Corbis, and others CHOOSE to ignore the photographer's/videographer's RIGHTS and steal it claiming that it was on Twitter and therefore public domain. Billion dollar companies' legal staff know damn well that is theft but the courts are slow and the fines are only in the 6-7 figures YEARS after the fact. The fines need to be much more punitive to stop these civil infractions.
The web will develop a dark side, with sites that skitter scatter all over, and everyone knows how to get what they want.
It will be like free movies.
Illegal, but everyone knows how.
LiveLeak is run from the UK... They can’t touch them..
