NATO chief says prepared to send troops to defend Turkey

BRUSSELS | By Robin Emmott

NATO said it was prepared to send troops to Turkey to defend its ally after violations of Turkish airspace by Russian jets bombing Syria and Britain scolded Moscow for escalating a civil war that has already killed 250,000 people.

Officials at the U.S.-led alliance are still smarting from Russia's weekend incursions into Turkey's airspace near northern Syria and NATO defense ministers are meeting in Brussels with the agenda likely to be dominated by the Syria crisis.

"NATO is ready and able to defend all allies, including Turkey against any threats," NATO's Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters as he arrived for the meeting.

Doesn’t anyone in government read history?

WWI began when the world powers mos-interpreted and mis-understood what was really going on. Each thought the others would back down.

If not in the cost of money and lives would slow down this rush to war, the fact that WWI changed the face of Europe and the balance of power forever. Almost every monarchy and every empire was destroyed or weakened.

You would almost think someone would like the Russians and Americans to get into a war to weaken us both, then who would be there to conquer them both?

LOL!

Turkey has ambitions to rule the Middle East once again.
That’s why they are all for the toppling of dictators around their neck of the woods.

NATO is a coalition of Stockholm Syndrome conniving elitists hell bent on destroying their own nations.

The Turks will eventually have NATO target Armenian Christians.

Obama’s fault.

He has destabilized the area.

“Each thought the others would back down.

I believe they thought they were morally right. They expected the other side to be defeated. Very few of the officers in charge had ever been in a battle, let alone a war. The populace of those countries were wildly in favor of war. It’s hard to imagine the pre-war conditions now.

The similarity with now is that the politicians are doing idiotic things. Propaganda, which really got its start in the First World War, is now entirely in the hands of liberal news agencies. Those agencies are pushing bizarre agendas. We, the people, have few things we can call facts to deal with.

The other similarity is that events are non-linear. Once they get going good we, the people, are just along for the ride. I’d like to get off. But we aren’t driving. We elected somebody with less experience than a ten year old who has fought off the school bully; and got expelled and sent to a psychologist for “microagression” treatment.

Finally someone is actually doing something about the ISIS maniacs, and these NATO gum flappers can’t stand that it’s Putin.

All true, especially the part of it getting away from them.

What is that saying, all plans change once the shooting starts.

2015 is similar to 1916 in another way. The Generals were prepared to fight a war like the previous century but new weapons and tactics were introduced that that required changes in the way they fought. Instead they allowed tens of thousands to die needlessly.

This war is not going to be anything like we have seen before. The United States is no longer protected by oceans, not only are there weapons that can reach us, we have allowed enemy forces to quietly invade our shores.

When the war begins we are going to be fighting on our homeland and we are not ready for that.

It does not mean we can not win, but it does mean that tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands will die because our leaders were either fools or traitors.

“NATO is ready and able to defend all allies, including Turkey against any threats,”

Generic statement in line with NATO charter.

Do not read too much into it, even though it will sell newspapers. There is no leadership in the West with enough backbone to take on the Duchy of Grand Fenwick.

60 million dead with our nation divided in several regional states with strong border controls on a couple of the more ‘viable’ states. That’s what I gloomily predict...with no more accuracy than anybody else. The living may well envy the dead!

Probably right. However, if they do decide to follow through with uncharacteristic resolve(?), they will be in for a humiliating setback.

It also ushered in modernism which led to many other horrible ideas. Ideas that are still killing people.
