I am not one for conspiracy theories but man o man - this was the French train heroes home town school:

Stone and two friends, Anthony Sadler and Alek Skarlatos, who all grew up in Sacramento, were hailed as heroes for stopping a terrorist attack on board a Paris-bound train.

Skarlatos returned last week to Roseburg, Oregon where he was living after a gunman opened fire on Skarlatos' college, Umpqua Community College, killing nine before before the shooter turned the gun on himself.

Skarlatos was supposed to be in the exact building where the Oregon shooter was killing students at that time of day. But he was instead taping a TV show that day. Per The American Thinker writing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~jumping off your post, my hinky meter is working overtime...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This is about the shooter from Roseburg~~~~~~
A review of Army records indicate that Mercer was in service at Fort Jackson, S.C, from November 5 until December 11, 2008 but was discharged for failing to meet the minimum administrative standards to serve in the U.S. Army.

and

CBS Los Angeles reported Mercer had ties to the Los Angeles-area communities of Torrance and Tarzana.

Mercer’s stepsister told the station he was born in England and traveled to the United States as a young boy. She said Mercer’s father, who lives in Tarzana, married her mom and that the last time she spoke with Mercer was a year ago.

In Torrance, neighbors told CBS Los Angeles that Mercer lived there a few years ago and kept mostly to himself.

It would be wrong not to look into this. Such a thing is probably not coincidence.
