Boogieman: Not much different from the tyrannical communism of the USSR in practice though?

Really? Russia under Lenin and Stalin was one armed death camp. To compare Putin's current Russia to the USSR is like comparing Franco's Spain to Hitler's Germany. It just shows me the level of knowledge on the subject by those that spout it is below a History channel level of knowledge. And that includes the Ancient Alien programs. Below that IQ level.

As bad as the Mullahs are in Iran (and they are bad) they seem sane compared to the jihadis out of the Sunni Gulf be they ISIS or al-Qaeda or the Muslim Brotherhood.

You do know that many of them belong to a branch of Shia Islam that believes it is their duty to start a Nuclear war so that the 12th imam (the Mahdi) will return and bring world peace united under Islam, don't you?

The ISIS whack jobs will never be within arms reach of nuclear weapons, but those Doomsday worshiping Ayatollahs will.

In the long run, the Kooks in Iran are a bigger threat to the world than the Kooks in ISIS.

"Why would we want to do such a horrible thing to Israel?"

Don't believe all you read on the F-35.

It's an extraordinarily capable platform, if not a traditional acrobatic fighter.

Heck, with the Air-to-air capabilities we are developing, one day we may wish we bought 400 747-400 "fighters".

Of note: once this platform is in the field in good numbers, you will see the add on capabilities emerge.

Control of semi-autonomous "adjunct" aircraft. The linking of two different groups to a single battle solution.

200 mile range missiles.

And this is the public stuff.

As if we had any choices but to sit quietly, pray, and wait for our own regime change. Bibi is in a similar situation I think.

If only all sides in Syria could lose. Russia is moving to control the oil market & to topple the dollar as the currency for oil. It might be good thing for the short term to get rid of ISIS, but having Russia as a major player in the region is not a good thing.

The solution is to attack Iran.

There's no conundrum.

I call bullshite on that. That is like people telling me the NWO is out to reduce the global population via the Georgian guidestones and with less proof to back it up.

PS: The Sunnis have the Madhi as well and Pakistan is a Sunni Muslim nation that backs the Taliban and al_Qaeda and has the bomb. So do some pondering.

In Syria I think it’s funny he’s blowing up our jihadis. They even had an orthodox priest bless the Jets first.

"Putin is targeting the same groups that ISIS targests. So yes there are forces fighting Assad that are not loyal to the Islamists."

Who are those groups? AFAIK, we only trained a handful (6-8) of Syrian rebels (according to Jean Kerri) at a cost of $500 million or so. What other groups, other than ISIS, is Obama supporting with cash and equipment?

Don't believe all you read on the F-35.

It's an extraordinarily capable platform, if not a traditional acrobatic fighter.

With an increasingly incapable price. So far everything i've read indicates that the smarter move would have been to just ramp up production of F-22s.

I think fighters are becoming obsolete anyways. You can drastically improve the cost and capabilities of air combat systems by getting rid of the pilot.

I think we will see more and more advanced drones replacing fighters, and eventually we will only have a few manned fighters in our arsenal. The rest will be remote jockey sticks.

The Mahdi is frequently mentioned in Sunni hadith as establishing the caliphate. Among Sunnis, some believe the Mahdi will be an ordinary man.

The Sunni ISIS already think they have the Mahdi and it's time for the apocalypse.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/16/opinion/bergen-isis-enemies/index.html

he mistake some make when viewing ISIS is to see it as a rational actor. Instead, as the magazine documents, its ideology is that of an apocalyptic cult that believes that we are living in the end times and that ISIS' actions are hastening the moment when this will happen.

The name of the Dabiq magazine itself helps us understand ISIS' worldview. The Syrian town of Dabiq is where the Prophet Mohammed is supposed to have predicted that the armies of Islam and "Rome" would meet for the final battle that will precede the end of time and the triumph of true Islam. In the recent issue of Dabiq it states: "As the world progresses towards al-Malhamah al-Kubrā, ('the Great Battle' to be held at Dabiq) the option to stand on the sidelines as a mere observer is being lost." In other words, in its logic, you are either on the side of ISIS or you are on the side of the Crusaders and infidels.

How many Christians will a bomb blast in the homeland kill?

"They simply have a state-run church that masquerades as “Christian” (just like the Nazis)."

The Russian Orthodox Church is not state run.

I have a feeling we trained those 5 or 6 guys to send money and weapons to ISIS or whatever jihadi group is in place and make it seem like plausible deniability.
