Really? Russia under Lenin and Stalin was one armed death camp. To compare Putin's current Russia to the USSR is like comparing Franco's Spain to Hitler's Germany. It just shows me the level of knowledge on the subject by those that spout it is below a History channel level of knowledge. And that includes the Ancient Alien programs. Below that IQ level.

You have to selectively pick one single period of the USSR in order to make the comparison seem silly. If we compare the Russia of today with the Russia of the 1980s, say, then the comparison doesn’t look very ridiculous at all.
