President Barack Obama is considering using an executive order to impose new background-check requirements on people buying guns from high-volume dealers, The Washington Post reports.
The change would require dealers who go over a certain number of sales per year to have a license from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and do background checks people attempting to buy guns from them.

NBC News reported Friday that the administration has considered 50 or 100 guns a year as the threshold to trigger these requirements, although there's been on final decision.
"This is a super-complicated policy," an administration official familiar with the idea told NBC.
The ATF objects to the action, saying it would be difficult to enforce, and one official told the paper, "Everyone realized it would be hugely politically controversial."

Most of the more-than-occasional sellers at gun shows used to have FFLs, and would be happy to have them again, but had their licenses pulled or their renewals declined, as a part of a determined effort by BATF to reduce the number of FFLs.
Actually, he probably can do that. The law says you have to have an FFL if you are engaged in a firearms business but doesn’t say how firearm business is defined. It is currently up to the BATFE to decide what constitutes a firearms business and they have left it undefined so that they can prosecute whoever it pleases them to prosecute. The BATFE is in the executive branch, so Obama honestly does have the authority to tell them “no a guys gotta sell 50 in a years before you can mess with him”.
Who thinks I could sell 49 guns a year without the BATFE chasing me down? I don’t. He’s pretending to set a limit where one didn’t exist, but honestly he is probably expanding the limit.
This is kind of like wetting yourself wearing dark trousers. Obama and the activists will get lots of kudo's, but it will make no difference.
If these types of sales are currently unrecorded, how can they prove you sold over their magic amount.
Here in CA and other states, we have a mandatory handgun and long gun registration and all guns are required to go thru a dealer. This is what the grabbers want nationally. It's their holy grail.
That would fall directly in line with their tactics of the past - issue a press release with a number that doesn’t sound too bad.
Example - only a few thousand Syrian terrorists.. ‘refuges’ then later on raise the number.

If the people, en masse, simply stopped obeying these unconstitutional gun laws coming from Washington, there would be nothing they could do about it.
How about a “Screw Obama Day” where we all gift one gun, with no background check, to a fellow citizen? Like Christmas, but with guns! They could do nothing.

Has there been any information that any of the recent school shooters didn’t get a background check?....Or wouldn’t have passed one?
