Here is what the Fascist can not stomach. Sheriff Hanlin is the protector of the Douglas citizens' Constitutional rights and these citizens know it. He is elected by and sworn to protect the people in his jurisdiction from illegal state and federal action against his citizens. It is an extremely solemn and onerous duty. Other law enforcement officers in the governmental structure are appointed government hacks. A sheriff is directly appointed (elected) by the people. As such he is the last stop to tyrannical usurpation of his citizens' Constitutional rights.
