I usually enjoy reading transcripts of Rush’s show, but sometimes the man sounds like he’s on auto-talk. I mean, did he say a single thing of substance to really answer that caller’s questions/concerns about Trump? No. Not even close.
Honestly, Rush is smarter than that. If he were really paying attention to the internal vs external dynamics of this race, he would have been able to tick off ten points of insight (re: Trump) that would have instantly settled the caller’s mind. He’s got the talent and the smarts - his attention is just somewhere else, it seems.
Rush’s audience numbers suffered when he didn’t pull punches with Perot. I think he fears the same thing with Trump. Several times he has acknowledged Trump is not a Conservative. Why would he prefer a non-conservative nominee?
