Following last night's Democratic presidential primary debate in Las Vegas, DNC chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) was grilled by Fusion's Jorge Ramos on the lack of diversity on the debate stage.
Wasserman Schultz said electing and then re-electing a black president shows the diversity in the party.
"When I was watching the debate what I was thinking was the Democratic Party lacked diversity. I didn't see a Latino, or an African-American, or an Asian on that stage," Ramos observed.
"Well, we have Latinos and African-Americans," Wasserman Schultz boasted. "Our president of the United States, who is a Democrat, is African-American. So certainly we have an absolute demonstrateive commitment to diversity, because out party nominated the first African-American and then Americans elected him not once, but twice."
"If you look at our party up and down the ballot, from the way that we select delegates, to the way we elect members of the Democratic National Committee, to the elected officials and the diversity that we have in this country, there is overwhelmingly more diversity up and down the ballot when it comes to Democrats," she said. "We are the party of diversity," Wasserman Schultz said confidently.
"The Republicans are essentially the party of a monolithic view that is narrow-minded that says, 'Let's take this country backwards,'" Wasserman Schultz declared. "And that's why when it comes to the issues that are important to minority communities they overwhelmingly support Democratic policies."
Republican Debate:
Latino: Check: 2 each, a Texan and a Floridian
Asian: Check: Indian-American from Louisiana
Black: Check: Neuro-surgeon
Female: Check: A former CEO of HP
RUH-RHO!
It is yours, now hoist.
Didn’t realize that there was a requirement for all of the races and ethnicities to run for Prez...
“The Republicans are essentially the party of a monolithic view that is narrow-minded that says, ‘Let’s take this country backwards,”
Well, only EIGHT years.
There is when yours (his) is not represented.
Wasserman Schultz: “We have binders full of Latinos, African-Americans, and Asians!”
LOL.
“Wasserman Schultz said electing and then re-electing a black president shows the diversity in the party.”
Hmm, one party elected and then re-electing a black president?
Wonder how she tasted after grilling.
Sorry Debbie, correction, Halfrican American.
By Contrast, the Republican Debate featured A Black man, a White woman, Two Hispanics, An East Indian Catholic, an Overweight person, a possible homosexual, and a few plain old white males.

I’m of Italian descent. All I have is Christie and he’s at one percent :)
I would really like to see an American of Italian descent as president, but it is not nearly a priority. I haven’t voted for Cuomo as governor. My father didn’t vote for his father. I didn’t vote for Deblasio.
It’s usually easy to vote for italians on Staten Island because they’re very conservative.
If Cuomo 1 had run for president, you would have had to put an M16 to get me to vote for him
we’re all americans folks. people forgetting that lately.
why doesn’t any candidate ever respond that way to these stupid questions.
go Christie!!!! He could Cappo tutti Cappo :)
Oye Whore-hay,the democrats don’t need no stinking latino candidates because the stinking latino voters vote democrat like the good little mind numbed democrats that they are.
In their defense, it’s entirely possible that Hillary isn’t even human, so they’ve got that going for them.
