I still have many doubts about Ted Cruzs ability to win the Republican nomination. He has a lot of precedent working against him; as I wrote seven months ago, Lets Be Serious About Ted Cruz From The Start: Hes Too Extreme And Too Disliked To Win. And Cruz has, if anything, become even more hated by his colleagues in Washington, which hurts him tremendously in the all important endorsement primary. He continues to make controversial statements on a range of issues that hurt his viability in a general election.
But I think its time to at least walk the headline back a bit.
Why? 1. Republican voters like Ted Cruz a lot
Cruz isnt getting a ton of support in horse-race polls. But hes doing OK particularly in a 15-candidate field. He is polling fourth in an average of the last three live-interview polls, at 8 percent. Thats higher than he was when he launched his bid, which is impressive given how much oxygen Donald Trump is taking up.
Long term, if voters dont like you, it doesnt matter how good your organization is or how much establishment support you have. And Cruz is among the best-liked Republican candidates. In an average of the last three live-interview polls1 in which Republican voters were asked whether they had a favorable or unfavorable impression of at least half the candidates, Cruz ranks fourth (snip)

Still, as Heidi Cruz recently stated, there remains a media blackout on Ted Cruz. He'll break out when and if that changes.
Ted Cruz will make a great AG and when an opening comes along...USSC Justice.
Agree! Cruz/Palin 2016.
Let the ‘Rats and the LSM get the vapors!
Ted Cruz will make a great AG and when an opening comes along...USSC Justice.

Amazing how so many tout the incredible versatility and depth of the brilliant Cruz.
Great President...great VP...great attorney general.. great chief justice...great secretary of state.. yes, and on and on.
Just name any modern day candidate who holds the capacity
to credibly serve our country in so many capacities.
If only there were more Ted Cruz’s.
“Lets Be Serious About Ted Cruz From The Start: Hes Too Extreme And Too Disliked To Win. And Cruz has, if anything, become even more hated by his colleagues in Washington, which hurts him tremendously in the all important endorsement primary.”
This is one of the stupidest statements I have read in a while.
Ted Cruz is not “extreme” unless you mean extremely intelligent and extremely honest.
Ted Cruz is not “disliked”. In spite of being continually attacked by the MSM and establishment Republicans most people like and respect Ted Cruz.
Cruz is not “hated by his colleagues in Washington.” The people who fear him and attack him are not his colleagues. They are a tiny group of corrupt, dishonest Washington insiders and media people who continually attack him.
“He continues to make controversial statements on a range of issues that hurt his viability in a general election.”
Those “controversial statements” are simply Cruz telling the truth
I think Ted Cuuz can become one of the most effective well liked presidents in history.
“...Cruz has, if anything, become even more hated by his colleagues in Washington...”

That’s a POSITIVE resume highlight and a PREREQUISITE for any Republican presidential candidate IMHO.
I agree with your comments. Those comments about Cruz are GOPe fluff >IMO.
The problem for me is the idea that Cruz can win primaries based on crossover Democrats, Independents, and “moderate” (Leftist) Republicans voting to select our nominee.
We will need demographic crossover voters in order for someone with our beliefs to win.
Trump seems to have tapped into that.
Cruz won’t be able to.
And those crossover democrats will happily cross right on back over to vote for the democrats in the general election ones they’ve chosen your nominee.
Bingo:
McCain
Romney
Any questions?
They operate in the background just like the press does in the open.
Cruz/West. Yeah. That’s the ticket!!!
Werks for me.
When it comes to GOD, family, country, TED CRUZ leads the pack.
TED CRUZ - For Such a Time As This - 2016
Very good point.
Ted Cruz will make a great AG and when an opening comes along...USSC Justice.
Rudy Giuliani will make a terrific AG in the Cruz administration.
The media blackout will end during the budget/spending/debt debate this fall in congress.
The media will try to make him appear horrible to moderates.
That period will make or break his campaign.
How he’s going to convince moderates that the fiscally respo0nsible course is best is beyond me as no one has ever overcome the media to do so before!
But that’s his course and he can’t avoid it.
The Trumpoonery-Buffoonery is truly sucking all the oxygen given the airheads in this country. I expect Cruze to break out at some point as the field is culled and we are brought to our senses about the corruption of the Hillary machine and the sheer vapidity of the Trump campaign.
From your computer to God’s ear!
Cruz/West would be a great ticket. However, the first thing that they will need to do is COMMUNICATE with the voters. Cruz needs to truly become a uniter, a big tent republican in every sense of the word. The republicans can’t even agree on what time to serve lunch, let alone legislation. They can’t even agree to disagree in order to select a new speaker - we look like fools and will be played as such by the media. We need to put on a unifying face, just like the RATS do, and fool the media. They are the ones who determine more than they should.
