The federal government will announce a new plan requiring anyone buying a drone to register the device with the U.S. Department of Transportation, NBC news has learned.
The government has been concerned about the rise in close calls between unmanned drones and aircraft flying into and out of some of the nation's biggest airports. The plan is expected to be announced Monday.
In July, there was a dangerously close encounter between a drone and a passenger jet with 159 people aboard setting up to land at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

When drones are outlawed, only outlaws...

If it moves..... Regulate it....
Won’t comply. Thanks for trying.
License, registration and insurance, like for cars, will eventually be required. Inspections too probably.
And then tax it.
they aint being OUTLAWED.... the operation of same is a fairly reasonable concern though..
lets let 12 year olds drive ...on the public thoroughfare WHY not its a FREE World...
freedom in not license...so to speak
When drones are outlawed only Hillary will have drones.
Not surprised. If it moves, they tax it.
Pry my Futabu from my cold dead hands
drivers are required to have driver licenses to DRIVE on the public roadways
Pilots are required to have pilots LICENSES to FLY.....in the “public Skies”
why the OPERATORS of DRONES would not exist under the same protective umbrella is a complete..... and utter... mystery.. to me
are you Rand Paul ibertarian??? by ANY CHANCE???
I wondered how long this would take. The Feds aren’t happy unless they can control everything. Everytime I heard about some idiot who was flying a drone near an airport or football stadium, I figured it was just a matter of time. It was just the kind of excuse the Federales needed.
I own a DJI Pantom 2 that carries a GoPro on a gimbal. It’s fun but less so these days with the number of idiots breaking the law, giving the craft a bad name and causing the need for legislation.
Easy to fly drones allowed stupid people with money to put one in the air with zero skill (very unlike RC planes or choppers).
Stupid people invite gov intervention. Over and over and over...
Cars, trucks, motorized cycle , airplane of all types. About the only thing on the road that is not registered are the huge pieces of farm equipment that fills both lanes of the country roads. Not surprising that a drone is registered.
I’m assuming from your post that a Futabu is some kind of drone.
Sincere question. Of what value is it?
