Cruz Says Trump Supporters Will Soon Back Him (Meet the Press)
NBC ^ | 10/17/15 | Leigh Caldwell

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Donald Trump's campaign has been "immensely beneficial" to his own campaign but added that his supporters will soon turn to him as they become "more educated."

"I think Donald's campaign has been immensely beneficial for our campaign and the reason is, he's framed the central issue of the Republican primary as, who will stand up to Washington," [sic] Trump told "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd.

"Well, the natural follow up if that's the question is, who has actually stood up to Washington?" [sic] Trump continued, adding that he's the only one with the proven record of standing up to both Democrats and Republicans.

Cruz said that "as voters get more educated, study the candidates, listen to the candidates in person," conservatives are getting behind his candidacy.

The firebrand Texas senator has made few friends in Washington, even from his own party, with his no-compromise tactics that have on one occasion led to a government shutdown...

"You know others have gone out of their way to smack (Trump), I haven't," Cruz noted.

I’m hoping their meeting some months back was about just that.

“considering “the Donald” isn’t even a conservative.”

Yes, non-conservatives are known for wanting to deport illegals and return this country to Americans. They are also known for cutting taxes, especially corporate taxes so businesses return to the US. They are also for increasing magazine capacities and for a federal concealed carry permit

Because he wasn’t joking. Anyone out there can watch the video and decide for themselves. He’s not joking at all nor has he claimed he was joking. “I love Oprah”. Another example of gullible people rewriting history to maintain a narrative.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Donald Trump's campaign has been "immensely beneficial" to his own campaign but added that his supporters will soon turn to him as they become "more educated."

That's just a dumb, presumptuous and insulting thing for Ted do say. When Trump supporters "become more educated" they'll move to Ted? Does he think we'll become educated and learn to see the wisdom of huge increases in H1-Bs and "streamlining legal immigration", whatever that means.

I guess this is now the second time Ted has made such statements, so apparently he thinks it's a useful thing to say. He's wrong and this will lower him in the eyes of many Trump supporters and make it less likely they'd ever support him.

Thought he was smarter than that.

No, I disagree. Cruz did a lot of that himself by voting for cloture on TPA and voting for the Corker bill to abrogate the Constitutional treaty process this year. I do not know about other people but I am also disappointed by his stated desire to expand the H1-B visa program by 500%. None of those things are because of Trump.

I agree with you on those and the Loretta Lynch thing. Which is why I haven’t supported him. But he is still light years from being as left as Trump.

“Donald’s campaign has been immensely beneficial for our campaign and the reason is, he’s framed the central issue of the Republican primary as, who will stand up to Washington,””

Trump has indeed framed the central issue and, to be more specific, it is stopping the invasion of our country and being willing to deport the invaders. “They have to go back.”

At the New Hampshire rally, Trump told that Bush plant in front of the cameras and the crowd “I'm pro-Life”.

That not something you just toss out there if he is a “liberal” as the Purists caucus claims he is.

Yeah, I am troubled by that too. Not sure how come “Christian Conservatives” who support Cruz think these sort of raging, bile laden, posts at everyone who does not agree with them is acceptable behavior.

Trump want’s no part of any debate with Ted.

I would think it wouldn't be much of a debate. They likely agree on many things.

Why would Trump want to be Vice President (Cruz/Trump ticket)?? It doesn’t make sense. His goal is president, all or nothing. Trump/Cruz would be a very strong ticket.

‘He’s not joking at all nor has he claimed he was joking.’

So you were inside Trump’s head and have a god-like ability to know he was dead serious.

Trump said he was joking. I’ve posted the quote before but I’m not posting it for you because you already Know It All and neither facts nor evidence impact your smugness.

It seems to me that if Cruz is going to claim he is the “principled conservative” in the race, he should probably vote that way.

What is this obsession Cruz supporters have for calling honest people liars? It’s sick and disgusting.

Maybe he’s just being a politician but I like him less every time he starts this rant. Why can’t he just campaign on his own merit? Why does everyone have to brandish the Trump name?

“Trump has not advanced conservatism one inch, “

LOL!

Once again......Yes, non-conservatives are known for wanting to deport illegals and return this country to Americans. They are also known for cutting taxes, especially corporate taxes so businesses return to the US. They are also for increasing magazine capacities and for a federal concealed carry permit.

Those stances are huge and are heads in conservatism above any other candidate’s proposals so far.
