Sure-
A Mexican national serially murder and raped in Texas, and was convicted and sentenced to death. But a Division of the World Court overturned his conviction because Texan law enforcement had not read the criminal his rights in Spanish.
Pres. George W Bush agreed, and adopted the World Court’s decision.
Cruz was Solicitor General in Texas at the time. Cruz opposed the World Court and Bush- took them to Court to argue the supremacy of the Texas and US Constitution.
It went to the Supreme Court- Cruz won.
If he had lost, or if he had acquiesced to Pres. Bush, international law would have superseded our Constitution, and your individual sovereignty thereunder.
Just think of it- Cruz, a young Texas official with aspirations, choose to put his personal career aside to oppose his own GOP President AND the Bush political family in Texas.
In my view- Cruz is a man of principle and deep moral conviction. I like Don Trump, not my business who supports him-— but it really frosts me when people on FR denigrate a patriot like Ted Cruz.
Trump-Cruz works for me, as long as the net results are whatever you would expect from Cruz as president. Nothing to say there couldn’t be 16 years of good government to follow, or maybe Donald serves one term and Cruz goes for two more? Any way the situation can be rescued is good, the last thing we want to see would be these two guys fighting each other.
Thanks - I didn’t know about this.
I do agree that Cruz is a patriot and a man of principle and we are lucky that he fights the fight. He has been my second choice. The only reason I go for Trump first is I think he has the raw moxie to push through the barriers and turn the establishment on it’s head. I’ve been thinking that Cruz should be his VP.
In my life I’ve had some good lawyers when I needed them but for the most part when I think of political lawyers I think of people like the Clintons - who use their knowledge to manipulate for personal gain. So many of them as so adept at lying without a conscience.
