Don’t know about Mogadishu, but every officer assigned to a certain famous combat unit I know of, that was in afghanistan in 2012, received a bronze star. They were also handing them out to most sergeants as though they were attendance awards. Pissed off many people, because they felt it made the hardware of little or no value when they are handed out like that. I’m just saying, it’s happened before, and this guy could have received his medal the same way.
Also, just because someone has a medal, earned or not, that doesn’t guarantee that they had integrity or lost integrity after such event. I’m not claiming this guy is a liar (because I really don’t know) but don’t let hero hardware make this guy untouchable. Everyone can be compromised. Everyone.
Any award for anything given out too easily undermines its significance.
I’m sure anyone can be bought. Money has a terrible attraction. As does power.
My mother sold her house and is closing on Nov 15th. I told her my sisters and I wont take a penny!!
Then she talked us into taking 2k each. Now trying for 5k.
I’m going back to ZERO k.
You just reminded me why I didn’t want any in the first place.
Most likely was awarded it for Oct 3rd 1993, Capt Scott Miller was part of the force that went to rescue the men in the downed BlackHawks, he earned it.
Unless there is a V device, the BSM is simply for service; a combat zone MSM. Personally I’d prefer an ARCOM for valor...if you’re decorated for valor in combat, that is indicative of something. Service = attendance.
