I once made the mistake of bringing up illegals in a conversation. The result.......was volcanic. Spanish is a great language for invective.
I'm sure that some (legal) immigrants are sympathetic to illegals, but that sure wasn't my experience.
My SIL lived in America, married to a Peruvian, for decades. She says that the people who are “invading” the US are the worst and that she and her extended family are not fans. I am watching this issue shift her from liberal to conservative.
The resident hispanics consider the illegals to be sub-cultural. They intentionally exclude them from events and essentially consider them to be squatters here for the goodies, from both sides of the spectrum.
Of course the caped crusader knee-jerk liberals make all the noise around here. Our congresscritter, unfortunately, is red raul grijalva so the pandering is over the top. Lots of "si se puede" BS associated with govt giveaways.
My experience as well.
Was there drinking going on during this conversation?
