Canada’s prime minister-elect Justin Trudeau has told US President Barack Obama that Canadian fighter jets would withdraw from fighting the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, but gave no timeline.
“About an hour ago I spoke with President Obama,” Trudeau told a press conference.
While Canada remains “a strong member of the coalition against ISIL,” Trudeau said he made clear to the US leader “the commitments I have made around ending the combat mission.”

Actually I suspect he’s going to keep them for a couple of decades, and the withdrawal is to prevent them using up remaining flight hours.

In a way, I can’t blame him. Why would any world leader put the lives of their serviceman at risk while following the lead of Obama?

We make fun of Americans for their obsession with celebrity. Time we looked at our own back yard. He is a rich, spoiled, elitists, so the idea he is “one of us” is complete fabrication. My wife was talking to a teenager who made all these proclamations that Harper was a dictator and divisive. When she asked for examples, he said his social studies teacher told his class this. The media did a great job of grinding down Harper’s character.
He lives in a gated community so what does he care?
Canada has some trends that differ it from the US. One is urbanization. Canada’s urban centers are growing faster than other areas - and urban votes tend to trend liberal. Another is that Canadians trust their media - I think the last poll numbers I saw were around 60% - while in the US I think it is 17%.

If you had 10 people in a room, the CPC had 3 people, Trudeau had 4, and the NDP 2. (The other 1 still hasn’t decided what he is). That is an uphill battle when 6 out of 10 are Stalinists. Still the base of 3 are not loving this. Last time we got 4 out of 10. I think until the last couple weeks, Harper would have been surprised if you suggested he would be tossed out on his ear. I really believe they didn’t see this coming. We truly believed Trudeau was a lightweight and other to 12 to 18 year old girls, really not impressive. But apparently many many Canadians have a man crush.
