Ted Cruz Just Responded To George Bush’s Attack In A Way That No One Saw Coming
western journalism ^ | October 21, 2015 | B. Christopher Agee

According to attendees at a recent fundraiser, George W. Bush is no fan of a fellow Texan currently competing against his brother in the 2016 Republican presidential primary.

“I just don’t like the guy,” Bush reportedly said of Sen. Ted Cruz.

Despite working on Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign, some speculate Cruz angered Bush by becoming too cozy with GOP front-runner – and frequent Jeb Bush critic – Donald Trump.

Cruz has also made an effort to distance himself from George W. Bush’s policies, offering some criticism of his administration during a recent interview.

“It’s not a good thing for a Republican president to grow the national debt from $5 trillion to $10 trillion,” he said, citing such spending as the impetus for the tea party’s formation.

Regarding Bush’s reported comment at his expense, however, Cruz chose to remain gracious instead of escalating the situation. “I have great respect for George W. Bush,” he said, “and was proud to work on his 2000 campaign and in his administration.”

He concluded that it is “no surprise that President Bush is supporting his brother and attacking the candidates he believes pose a threat to his campaign,” though he made it clear he does not intend to respond in kind.

“I met my wife Heidi working on his campaign,” Cruz said, “and so I will always be grateful to him.”

There is nothing preventing the appointment of a former president to the Supreme Court. Which would do good for the country even longer.

My dream team ticket: Trump/Cruz

Within the realm of sane politics, we are opposites - my dream team ticket is Cruz/Trump. I'd settle for the reverse, or especially Cruz on the Supreme Court, but I'd rather see Cruz in the White House.

self-explanatory really.

Bush never has said he does not like fairy boy or Hillary, infact he took all their crap and never said a word back and still has not.

That is the point..

"There is nothing preventing the appointment of a former president to the Supreme Court."

President Taft did become Supreme Court Chief Justice Taft.

I think that W screwed up sooo bad in his second term that he alienated his entire base. He was derelict in his sworn duty to protect the southern border (as were most others), but his compassionate conservatism blew the budget, he supported Planned Parenthood, his muslim outreach( scraping and bowing to the Saudi king) and many, many other transgressions against his conservative supporters. The Dubai port thing, Harriett Meyer, but obviously you have a computer, so you can search Bush’s gaffs yourself.

I’d rather see Cruz on the SCOTUS. >>

Nope, he is too young to be shoved off as one vote on the SC, deep in the caverns of the Supreme Court building.

He is a political evangelist with energy and needs to be returned to the Senate where he can expound against corruption and totalitarianism.

Who else’s voice in the crap senate do we have, but his? Otherwise, we roll over without even a whimper.

I almost forgot- GWB gave us John Roberts, although that probably had little bearing on helping to elect Buckwheat.

I would rather see cruz as the USSC justice (or chief justice) who shuts down the 9th circus or even leads the charge to divide it up.

So THIS is what makes you people weep with joy? The only thing Cruz did was invite these people to load up and fire away AGAIN! Say they dont like you....respond with how much respect you have for him? Seriously?

I could see your point if people actually took what GW Bush had to say, seriously. Few do.

It's like if a homeless man or a retard criticized you. Would you really feel the need to argue back?

Surely you meant Stephen Hawking advising Homer Simpson? I.e., the brilliant, scholarly genius Ted Cruz advising the loudmouth blowhard Trump.

Graciousness is something not often seen in politics. It shows that Cruz walks the walk when it comes to his Christian values. He also said he wouldn’t be trashing the other candidates, so he’s keeping his word. Both are good qualities worthy of respect.

And, your point is excellent.

W has been silent as a lamb for eight years, and of all the nefarious, whimpy and downright evil ones running through our country, our government and across our border, in these evil times, he picks TED CRUZ to slander?

It is disgusting. Ted has been running in sixth or seventh place longer than he has been running in 5th place, so what’s it to W. It’s Jeb who missed the coronation, not Ted.

Besides, it is too bad that W is willing to squander his good will capital that he has gained since his return to private life, all that lost over his brother, the slow walking, listless, passionless, boring, no-fight Jebbers.

I agree - but it would also have been nice if Cruz said:

“GWB says he doesn’t like me - can I quote that in a campaign ad?”
