Hangdog Hume is pointless to listen to. He’s just dead wrong. Guilt over not supporting his gay son? Rejection from a sleazy skank newsreader? Who knows? Who cares? Why is treated like some Wise Emeritus?
Because once upon a time he read things off a paper/teleprompter that were written by others, that people in TV land liked to hear. So rather than think for themselves people create make-believe heroes and worship them.
All very ‘golden calf’ when you stop and think about it.
