Woman says New York City paid her $1M to do nothing
NYPost ^ | October 25, 2015

The city paid a pension-fund employee $1.3 million in salary and benefits over 10 years — but gave her nothing to do, she says.

Niki Murphy, who was listed as an IT business analyst, said the managers of NYCERS, the city’s largest taxpayer-funded employee pension fund, refused to let her do any work because she married the former executive director, who blogged critically about the retirement system.

“In 10 years, they paid me over a million dollars to sit there,” she told The Post.

“Day in and day out. I sat there. I watched movies, I crocheted — right in front of them. I took an online course in computer science — anything to keep myself busy. They made me feel worthless.”

She should have spent her time on LinkedIn and taken a more fulfilling career role.

Government unions/government pensions — I would like to see these things outlawed.

They made me feel worthless.

Sounds like she is setting up for a lawsuit to get more money in punitive damages.

Right out of high school; I got a summer job in Huntsville,
Ala. typing work orders for a unit that was working on
the Saturn V project. - Another girl I graduated with was
told to report to an empty building. She just sat there
for 3 months and drew her pay, went home at night, came
back the next day, etc. - My job was fairly interesting.
Von Braun would ride in with another scientist in a sort
of golf cart vehicle and inspect the work progress on
a warehouse floor below. I remember standing on the
balcony and watching the work below. The engineers in
my unit were very blasé about that whole situation.

We pay government goons better than that with benefits and if they did NOTHING we’d be better off.

They DID something. They ripped us off for another BILLION in less than 24 hours.

Someone call the police.

You would use the law to oppose socialism? But it is upon the law that socialism itself relies. Socialists desire to practice legal plunder, not illegal plunder. Socialists, like all other monopolists, desire to make the law their own weapon. And when once the law is on the side of socialism, how can it be used against socialism? For when plunder is abetted by the law, it does not fear your courts, your gendarmes, and your prisons. Rather, it may call upon them for help.

Socialism Is Legal Plunder

I heard a tale about a son of an executive who was hired for a summer job at a factory. They gave him a white lab coat and a clipboard and told him to walk around and act like he is taking notes. Everything went fine for several days then he noticed another young guy shadowing him all day. He finally went to his supervisor to ask about the guy and was told they hired him an assistant.
