Almost no one remembers Cat 4 Brett in 1999 because it veered to the right, away from Corpus Christi and hit Padre Island. I remember it because it was heading right for my parent's house until it thankfully made that turn. A lot of people remember Cat 3 Celia in 1970 because it made a direct hit on Corpus. It's all about where the storm hits and how it hits and also how big it is.

Problem is that they keep trying to push global warming and trying to link man caused global warming as driving hurricanes.
So when the hurricane season flatlined, they panicked.
They have trumpeted every month this year so far as being “warmest month ever!!11/1” for some bizarre reason.
It just gets so darn tiring.
Kinda like seeing bpearthwatch videos getting put forth as “prooooof!!1!1” of something.

Yea but these people are beyond sarcasm/parody. Nothing outrageous we said about them 10 years ago isn’t something they aren’t embracing today.

These are people that legislate based on 53 genders and have protesters upset that they arent being inclusive enough.

These are people that held a gathering promoting the acceptance of raping children in DC and had White House reps in attendance.

These are people that post yard signs disallowing certain children in costume as bigots for wearing a superman/princess costume...while spamming social media with their boy in a princess costume to promote acceptance and diversity.

Embrace Existential Cage Theory..

2: Put the liberal in the cage
3: Weld the door shut
4: Walk away.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Taxpayers end up paying Billions to rebuild Homes in New Orleans destroyed by Hurricane Katrina that are situated in Neighborhoods below Sea Level.

Trump is right, the Mexican Government is smarter that the Morons we Elect.

None of that changes the fact that if Patrica would have made a direct hit on Puerto Vallarta or Manzanillo, it would have been catastrophic.

Did it cause little damage or could they not tell the difference?

I had a roommate surprise a burglar rummaging in my room who then made a hasty exit.

When the police arrived they said, "My....he sure tossed the place" and my roommate had to admit, "Nah....it always looks like this".

I lived in Lake Charles for a couple of years in the early 1980’s. Was living in Houston very near the Dome when the Katrina immigrants began flooding in and took over our city. Knew and worked with many Blacks in Lake Charles but they were so much better educated and self-reliant than those from NOLA. Really shocked me. I remember one comment that was made by the press after Katrina - that we were looking at the underbelly of NOLA and it is not pretty. Seems like people affected by Katrina always had their hands out and expected to be taken care of and entertained. I do know the kids had real problems in the school system because they were so far behind.

Maybe I was too busy cleaning up after Ike but I don’t recall anyone then saying anything about global warming or whatever it is

But that is beside the point. The point is that, in general, since the AGW crowd started predicting “more frequent and more severe” hurricanes due to human activity, that has just not been the case.

Not saying it did.
But it would be nice for once if the wild eyed barking dog media didn’t try to link everything to global warming.

Parini gets to the crux of his and the many who share his views on the lefts agenda which is the confiscation of millions of legally owned firearms under the threat of government attack and subsequent outlawing of all handguns and rifles.

"Let me dream for a moment: I would much prefer to live in a country where only hunters who pass appropriately strict tests for mental competence and a knowledge of gun safety can still acquire rifles that are appropriate for hunting. Handguns and assault rifles would be banned, period."

Banned. Period. There you have it folks, CNN letting a hard left authoritarian use their platform to “dream” about disarming America. It gets worse.

"So let’s get rid of guns in this country, once and for all, making it a felony to possess a handgun or assault rifle. Over a period of years, illegal guns will gradually disappear. Guns don’t kill people, as they say. People who acquire guns — legally or illegally — do. And we should make it extremely difficult for them to get their hands on these weapons."

I have chosen a first target.

The disappointment on the left is palpable. The warmists were praying to Gaia for thousands dead, millions displaced and billions in property damage, so they could say “See, I told you so”.

I followed this storm. The reports from the hurricane hunter aircraft validated the media reporting. It was a small, powerful hurricane like Camile in 1969. If Camile had hit Padre Island it would not have been a memorable storm. A difference in track of 20 miles either direction up the coast for Patrica would have had an impact on populated areas and it would have been a very different story.

The eye was intense, but small in area. They lucked out that it came ashore in a low-population area. Also, Mexico is hilly in that area, and the hills likely dissipated some of that energy.

That storm was nothing compared to Hugo and Andrew. Just because you know somebody that got damage, that doesn’t make it the storm of the century.
