Well trumps Iowa strategery is to round up rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, ****-kickers and Methodists.

Trump better figure it out. It’s those who fear he’s not as conservative as we would hope. For example, I fear that if the question is asked properly, we may find out he is not truly pro life (meaning he will say that he is ok with current abortion laws but is ‘personally pro life’- meaning he is actually pro choice). And goodbye to many, many votes.

Politicians always lie. When dems do it to their base, the base doesn’t care. Battered wife syndrome, Stockholm syndrome, whatever.

When the GOPee, does it, we get pissed.

Hence, Donald Trump.

I frankly don’t understand Iowa either

Iowa just wants to be first. If they are first, they can give the MSM a chance to chant "Iowa" longer than anyone else

Truth be know Iowa has sold their souls for Archer Daniels Midland and the Ethanol Lobbyist.

My post above did not quote post 13 properly. It’s worth reading post 13: he brings up a huge point. I can’t cut and paste properly because I just installed the new update from Apple on my iPad and it isn’t allowing me to get the whole quote or sometimes even to quote on FR.

Hmmm.

Well, it occurred to me after I made my post that I elected Marco Rubio to the senate /facepalm.

So, I guess I also do not understand myself. Ya think you are doing a good thing, but you just got lied to by another liar republican again ><;

But I won’t be voting for that sucker again. Not for anything.

I wouldn’t even let him make me a cheeseburger.

Ugh. And I voted for Romney too. Same scenario.

I think I’ma go sulk in the corner by myself for a while.

Interesting analysis of the Iowa Caucus in this CBS article from 2012:

"Iowa's bad track record for picking GOP winners"

"In 2008, heralded as a banner year for turnout only 5.4 percent of eligible Iowans turned up at a GOP caucus site.

...

Because such a small proportion of Iowans choose to participate in the caucuses, those that do go represent a very distinct group. Republican caucus attendees tend to be more conservative and more religious than their counterparts in other early states, as well as nationally."

Which would explain Huckabee in 2012 and Carson now.

Thanks for the info.

Yes, in the last 10 Iowa caucus contests going back to 1976 and of the 7 contested caucus’ in this period. the eventual GOP nominee only prevailed in 3 of the 7 contested contests (1976, 1996 and 2000). In 4 of the 7 contested contests, the eventual GOP nominee did not win the Iowa caucus (1980, 1988, 2008 and 2012).

The incumbent GOP President ran unopposed in the Iowa caucus in 1984, 1992 and 2004.

Nothing to “understand” Donald a brand new Yougov poll has you both at 27. That’s a huge correction and puts the other two polls in a different light.

...and something weird ALWAYS happens...

Let’s hope it’s not fatal whatever it is. I think Trump has handled weirdness very well so far and I have no reason to think he will not ably handle the junk thrown at him all the way to the White House.

BTW, the B.S thrown at him won’t stop at the general election, just like it didn’t with Reagan. Trump has to steel his will and determination to do what’s best for America and Americans (CUT GOVERNMENT, BUILD THE MILITARY = CUT SOCIAL PROGRAMS, MOST OF WHICH ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL, BY A LOT).

Trump may not get us to where we need to be, but he can, and I think will, start. If Trump has a good-to-great presidency, his VP has a good chance of being the subsequent president. I look for Trump’s VP to be the non-politically-motivated President who finishes what Trump starts and loves America and the Constitution so much that he dismantles the 80% unconstitutional portion for the $4 trillion federal government, which will take guts, courage, and a very thick asbestos suit as well as a lot of faith.

The question is, who should Trump’s VP be? That is an important an issue, if not more so, as it was for Reagan who, to ensure winning the 1980 election, chose Bush - wrong guy and we’ve paid for it for many years.

Is Cruz really the right guy for VP? Is Cruz “real” enough? He seems to have this political persona that makes him seems like he’s always giving a campaign speech anytime he’s just conversing with someone. I don’t know - maybe some of Trump’s being himself without the political persona could rub off on Cruz. Cruz does seem to get the importance of the Constitution, its limits on the feds, and state sovereignty outside constitutional limits.
