Did not vote for him and I am proud to say so!!! He was a snake, can you imagine how hard it would be for us to convince citizens that the R was better for the country, when he would do exactly what the R’s in congress are doing to us right now? This “man of God and good business skills” would be better for us, the conservatives? When he said, “I am severely conservative” that is when i said, I am getting off his train”.

“except for voting for Clinton’s 2nd term”

You shouldn’t admit that. It is extremely disreputable. Evil, even.

Rove was apoplectic about BOR implying that who ever wins must tap in to the publics mood of deep discontent. Rove kept going on about “we don't need to throw out all the rules (historical trends and consultant BS) and at this point in the 2012 campaign Herman Cain was leading...”

Rove is so last century. The guy should never be on television. His fat face literally oozing pork juice. He should sign off one time with, “That's all Folks,” ala Porky Pig.

I have to say it:

I think this piece by Rush is a historical document. I think folks down the road will look at this and say, “Here’s what happened, and how it happened.”

I’ve been wondering what is up with Rush lately. This piece explains it. He has been, for the longest time, trying to get his head around why his party can’t be led. Not by him nor anybody.

You think you’ve got a 100 seat majority in the House and you are actually down by a 100. In the Senate, it’s a 70 to 30 split between liberals and conservatives.

The only thing he really did not say is that the brand is dead. He said everything but that. It is. More people identify themselves as conservative than they do Republican. This is something Romney pointed out, not Rush. The irony is that he doesn’t blame himself for blowing up the brand. He blames Rush.

I think this monologue is seminal, in that he realizes he’s essentially ‘going it alone’ now. The idea that the party can be changed from within is dead.

I also think, sadly, this goes for Cruz. In the Senate, he’s already politically dead. It’s going to take someone from the outside to flip the lights on and say, “OK, it’s all got to come down, or eventually there will be people coming through those doors with shotguns.”

I don’t put it past either Cruz or Trump to run third party. This is what is taking Jeb so long to get out. Privately, it is what they are probably planning for in the GOP.

If Trump wins, or looks like he’s going to win, then the party will kick him. They’ll nominate someone else on the floor and make him swim alone.

Trump could win in that scenario. Cruz can’t.

I think the reason why this monologue is so important is that Romney has just served Conservatives with notice - this isn’t your party, and it really never was.

If the good old days was the pretense of opposition, and they can’t have that any more, the next best thing is moderation and making deals with democrats on behalf of the donor class. Essentially, this is what Rush has just explained. The GOP moderates will firewall the liberals from the conservatives and ‘serve the greater good’.

Fox News will be their voice.

If there was EVER a market opportunity for a conservative news outlet, there is one now. Fox is neither fish nor fowl anymore. If OAN comes on as a new conservative alternative that is as professional as Fox was when it came on, then Fox will go the way of CNN, and worse.

This monologue will be looked at historically, I believe. Rush has put us on notice.

Willard is setting himself up for an independent third party run if Cruz or Trump are the republican nominee.

Willard might want to check what happened to John Anderson in 1979 the last time the GOPe tried this trick.
