He has always been a liberal. Now that he has nothing to lose he is most dangerous. He will take delight in sticking it to conservatives and “false prophets” one last time.

I would say voting for 290 or so Republicans in the House and Senate is counterproductive and immoral.

I would vote against them even write-in if there is no good opponent on the ballot in primary and general election although I hope for this country to have a sane and sober third party on the ballot, a new party along the lines of UKIP in the UK.

I like a sober sane third party as a good solution but accept that nonviolent civil disobedience is a possible outcome with the possibility that it would lead to something violent like civil rights did in the 1960’s.

I would applaud anyone citizens or even members of the House who nonviolently stand in the way of the vote for this budget insanity and the vote to anoint Paul Ryan as Speaker.

Why 2 years and why any increases when COLAs are held at zero?

It took me 15 years to realize it’s just one big party in Washington, literally and figuratively,

Same here. We kept hoping and holding out, but it's obvious that the entire system needs to be purged of corruption on both sides.

Paul Ryan is saying the deal stinks. Yeah right. He’s a hard core conservative.....until Thursday. After the vote, he’ll go back to being the Chamber of Commerce Establishment Republican he he was paid to be.

It’s all theater. GOPe & the kenyan leading the country by the nose from one crisis to the next.

Ryan supposedly opposes Ex-Im bank but isn’t whipping against the big vote for it coming up. He’s also totally silent on TPP which is supports. Those are big issues that should be getting talked about now.

Soft Boner has nothing left to lose now.

And of course, Ryan will vote for it as well while pretending he’s not responsible.

Then the pretend conservatives in the Freedom Caucus will accept it as well.

The fix is in and I don’t know how to break out of it.

He may well vote against it as a show vote. A little red meat for the base. Note that the last budget deal was negotiated by Ryan. Something fishy going on here.

> What is it with Boehner?

He doesn’t give a [bleep] anymore. He’s headed for a cushy lobbying job and enough free time to drown in Merlot and cigarettes.

here’s the (PDF) draft of the ‘deal’:

It also bankrupts SS earlier by diverting receipts to SSDI.
Yay!

Yes and notice budget maven Ryan is nowhere to be found on the last big budget deal of the Obama era. We’re being played by the GOPe. Again.

If voting actually changed anything, they would have banned it decades ago.

Boehner and Pelosi know exactly how many votes to count on from each caucus to get it to 218.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.
