John Boehner: Less Costly, Smaller Government Will Never Happen(brazenly lied to us all these years)

Now-former House Speaker John Boehner says that he came to Washington to fight for a smaller, less costly and more accountable government, and now that he's leaving the House, that still hasn't happened.

"I began to realize over the years there is no winning this fight," Boehner said in an interview with Fox News' Bill Hemmer on Thursday, just after his replacement, Paul Ryan, took the gavel. The fight has been going on for over 200 years in Washington, he told Hemmer in the interview, which aired on Friday on the network's "America's Newsroom" program, and "it will be a constant struggle over how big should Washington be, how much should it take?"

Boehner said his biggest regret for the time he was speaker was the failure to reach the so-called "Grand Bargain," in 2012, which would have been an agreement with President Barack Obama and congressional leaders to curb spending while reducing the national debt and avoiding sequestration.

“The name “John Boehner” should be a curse on American lips forever, right along with “Benedict Arnold”. “

Benedict Arnold saved the American army at Saratoga. He once was a hero.

Boehner and McConnell have never been anything but scum.

I do actually take him at his word here. He has no more reason to lie.

However, in the process of rolling over to the "New Normal", he also sold out America to the globalists and elitists, and that -- THAT -- I can never forgive him for.

pardon me for citing the obvious; Bonehead is exactly right because smaller government would mean more money in the people’s pockets and that would mean the ruling elite who control DC would feel threatened of losing control. The rulers must balance the availability of food and how much freedom of the people they allow in order to maintain control. The more money = more freedom to move/travel, protest, revolt..................

“There’s no winning this fight.” John had you gotten into the ring thrown some punches and taken some hits it might have proven to be different. By the way JOhn, what fight did you put up?

From what I’ve read and what I can conclude from his actions, Boehner is a scumbag and his judgement should count for nothing.

At times it seems they have made a different sort of bargain.

John Boehner - a infinite sized POS. Now we have Paul Ryan, a slightly lesser POS.

Was he actually saying all these years that he was going to cut the size of government, or was that just what people heard because they wanted to hear it?

I see on the internet that he talked about cutting waste, and some have credited him with keeping government expenditures from growing more than they could have, but I don't see where he promised a massive rollback of the size of government.

Thank you for that. I have always wondered why the wealthy would want socialism/communism and Putin is proof exemplified and multiplied.

Just another of the Orange One’s mountain of lies. If these political prostitutes were interested in a “grand bargain”, why didn’t they do it when Jorge Bush was president and they had both houses of congress?

Thank you for that. I have always wondered why the wealthy would want socialism/communism and Putin is proof exemplified and multiplied.

They also want bigger govt and more regulations because it makes it extremely difficult for new businesses to enter a market. Big govt protects their companies and their interests.

Fewer small businesses, means fewer small businesses that will make it to become medium and ultimately big businesses.
