"BS. He provided material, logistical, training, resupply, staging and volunteers for Al Qaeda-in-Iraq (AIQ) insurgents up until our departure. He is responsible for hundreds, if not thousands of US casualties." It looks like al Qaeda didn't get your memo
The leader of al-Nusra Front - the al Qaeda-affiliate group in Syria - insisted on Wednesday that he is under orders from the organization's central leadership not to attack Western interests in Syria, but rather focus on toppling President Bashar al-Assad.
After a two-year siege, al Qaeda's affiliate in Syria and other insurgents on Wednesday captured the one remaining Syrian army air base in Idlib, a development that activists said effectively expelled the last of President Bashar al-Assad's military from the northwestern province.
The regime has dismissed allegations of collusion as propaganda, claiming that it is the biggest victim of al-Qaeda attacks-and that despite all the accusations, no one has produced solid proof. Both groups call for the overthrow of the Assad regime, but ISIS has made it clear that it sees the establishment of an Islamic caliphate as a priority, and is spending more efforts protecting its territorial gains from rival rebel groups than attacking regime targets.
