Colorado Springs gunman wrote rambling blog 2 days before shooting spree

The man who neighbors say shot three people in Colorado Springs on Saturday made a rambling post to a brand-new blog two days earlier that railed against his father, religion and government.

Noah Harpham, whose blog begins with the address where Saturday's shooting started, rages against a California mega-church pastor.

"Welcome to mind control," Harpham wrote.

In Colorado Springs, Harpham, 33, lived modestly in a series of apartments and worked in insurance.

On the online dating site eHarmony.com, Harpham described himself as a recovering alcoholic and a Christian.

The 6-foot-5 Harpham called himself "a big friendly giant."

Related: Two victims in Colorado Springs shooting spree had turned lives around Harpham's struggles with substance abuse were documented by his mother, Heather Kopp, in her book "Sober mercies: How love caught up with a Christian Drunk."

When her son quit drinking and sought help through Alcoholics Anonymous in 2007, his mother thought "It's quite possible there's a miracle afoot."

Kopp didn't return phone calls Sunday.

Neighbors say Harpham lived quietly at 230 N. Prospect St.

A licensed insurance agent, his only recorded brush with the law was a 2003 speeding ticket in Oregon.

The lone tenant inside the Prospect Street house, he had lived there for a few months, and prior to that lived in a house across the street with his girlfriend, the owner of the property said. The landlord didn't want his name used.

So many nuts running around loose. Naturally, the left blames the guns, since the nutjobs are their people.

Well, he has mannerisms that are off. And his blog is a mess of weirdness too. Just an ex-drunk that apparently fell off a mental cliff.

ISIS can kill whole villages of people with every tpe of assault weapon and gun known and our government and the liberals support them and want to join them. Black on black and black on white killings occur all the time but you rarely see more than a casual mention with any details, only the number of killings in one of the cities over a weekend. A crazy loon who just happens to be white and a apparently somewhat religious does a shoot’em up and the MSM goes wild and focuses on him evry hour of the day and will for the next week, continuously streaming images of the scene, interviews with neighbors, while focusing on him being white and Christian failing to mention he was nutcase. A real Christian wouldn’t have engagedin this type of behavior. If Muzzies and their buddies, the liberal left, can say not all Muslims are like “that” when yet another Muslim whacks another Christians ‘s head off or rapes a woman in the streets then they should understand this guy only claims the Christian label; he was no a “Christian”.

You must realize, on FR, there are quite a few members who can fully psychoanalyze a person from a single grainy photo posted on the internet.

Harpham described himself as a recovering alcoholic and a Christian.

You can describe yourself as a Buick also, but that don't make you one.

While you statement by have some validity regarding the exaggerated skills some claim, your very statement red flags for failure to point out this individual was first, immoral (not married living with girlfriend), probably mentally ill who knows what else he was in to in rejecting God in his life.

I don't need a picture of him (haven't even seen one yet) to know he was messed up. His ACTIONS make whatever grainy picture of him that exists become a macabre object of disgust. Folks keep turning their backs on God, they are going to get a huge, unwelcome surprise.

Hard to say. From what I’ve heard locally, he sounds like a messed up human being.

History of severe drug and alcohol abuse, got religion, cleaned up his life and then had some sort of relapse. His last post on the interwebs was that he was logged into a porn site.

Looks like a man that wanted to die but didn’t have the courage to pull the trigger himself.

He wanted the cops to end his unhappy life for him.

Which had nothing to do with the availability of guns.

In all fairness, several parts of the article implied mental illness. For instance, substance abuse suggests “problems inside”, if, big if, the substances are used to “self medicate.” Substance abuse can also make preexisting conditions worse.

However, at the same time, it mentions that he was deeply concerned about “mind control” at the church his father was attending, and wondered if they were “satanic”. Again, by itself, this is just eccentric. But it also means “problems outside.”

The usual age of onset of schizophrenia in males is from 16-25 years old. However, this is onset, and it can take years for it to fully develop. It is relatively common, with around 1 to 1.5% of the population developing it.

Importantly, if he did have schizophrenia, it might show up at his autopsy. “Recently neuroscientists have detected gray matter loss of up to 25% (in some areas). The damage started in the parietal, or outer, regions of the brain but spread to the rest of the brain over a five year period. Patients with the worst brain tissue loss also had the worst symptoms.”

Other common things which could explain his behavior is a brain tumor, steroid or prescription or illegal drug abuse.

Looks like a very sick person.

I didn't go by the article. I went by the reaction to a photo and another poster's reaction to that statement. It's happened many times on FR. "She has crazy eyes" or "Look at his eyes. He must be a loon". There are a few FReepers who think they can tell a person's whole life story by one picture.

Or, a sentence...

I have to admit that I’m surprised. I expected much darker skin in keeping with the type of crazies we’ve had over the past years.

Not necessarily, considering the area. Recall Columbine HS, too. That also had some of the ‘mind control’ hinted at (MK ULTRA).
