No, it’s a full size .45 caliber semi-auto. A 1911, but Remington’s first foray into the pistol market since I believe the 1940’s.

It’s my carry pistol. I believe that if I have to shoot, I’d better have stopping power.

"I have a Ruger LCP with Crimson Trace laser. Great combination."

Picked up the same thing a few months ago - love it.
Carries well, shoots fine, cleans easy. Great price, too.

Whatever happened with that? I was excited about it because I love my Remington 1911 so much but never saw anything happen besides the complaints everywhere and something about a recall. Did they fix it up?

Apparently they figured out a fix, but with the move of their company, they haven’t geared up to repair the guns recalled. Pretty much screwed the pooch.

outside of the shoot-em-up in WACO ... most confrontations are close quarters ...

a well placed .38 promises a long sleep.

I was just about to order an R51 when I read about the recall. My original Model 51 is a sweet gun.

Much cooler than the Colt 1903, but cost a lot more, which made it less popular.

The Colt ‘03 and ‘08 are classics too.

Yes, got one of each. Is Colt producing the new ones yet? Hope they don’t screw them up.

I think Colt’s pretty much defunct now.

How about the Taurus Curve? I am thinking about getting one for my wife and maybe one for myself.

I won’t say anything about Taurus based on a few experiences I’ve had with them.

I take it you're not a fan. I was looking at their .38 snubbies vs Charter Arms. Don't know if either is any good.

No I’m not. Bought Mrs. Slim a Model 94 (small frame 9 shot .22 revolver). It shaved more lead than a pencil sharpener and the rear sight blade fell off.

Eventually had to atone with a Sig Trailside with Nill grips and a red-dot.

Have you? I like their line up and the price is right. Of course I would prefer a detective special...

Just bought a near mint Bersa 383A, which is a .380 but about 30 years old. Blue steel & wood grips, not an expensive gun but well made and has some heft to it. Destined for the wife’s bedside table, not much recoil and something she’s comfortable with. Got my Remington 1911 R1 on my side of the bed.

Thanks! That first link said what I needed to know. It is a good concept, but it needs work. I will pass and hope they get an improved version out. I like the curve idea for concealment.
