I've often advocated that states start with no more delegates than electoral votes. This would be about 1/5th of the delegates awarded. The next 1/5th would be awarded on the basis of numbers of congressman, senators, state legislatures, governors, etc. The final 3/5th would be based on electoral votes cast for the GOP in November during the last half dozen or so election cycles.
Yes, technically, this formula could mean that a small state like Wyoming could gt more delegates than one like Massachusetts. Unfair, you say? I'd agree, but unfair to Wyoming which consistently delivers three electoral votes to the GOP every cycle to zero for Massachusetts.
Want more delegates? Then deliver in November or, if you are split personality state like us in Pennsylvania, then split up your electoral votes like they do in Maine and Nebraska.
IIRC, this was also a problem in 1952, with regard to Repub delegates from southern states that were solidly Democrat at the time.
I think it was key to Eisenhower getting the nomination away from Taft. There was a big floor fight over it at the convention.
Henry Cabot Lodge II was instrumental in it, and later boasted in Vietnam (where he was ambassador) that he had no problem with rigging elections there, since he'd done it in the US.
Meanwhile, we are stuck with a crowd who bitches about Dole, Bush, McCain, Romney and whoever is the RINO flavor of the cycle and have done NO MAJOR RULE CHANGES in the direction which I just suggested.

Often times it’s better to have a real democrat than a fake republican. Fake republican’s are hard to get rid of and they sap strength from the party. There was no way whatsoever I was ever going to vote for John McCain. So I wrote in a candidate. Problem solved, I voted for neither McCain nor Obama in either real or [your] imagined vote.

The last time they failed was with Reagan. Even then they

Yes. Unfortunately this knowledge doesn’t do us much good given the pervasiveness.
The logical approach is not to participate in the electoral farce. Instead we should be working outside the political realm doing things that will implement conservative ideas and values.

It was obvious that after the election, the sit at home or as you say voted for a 200 year dead President, were in hiding.
Now that years have past, somehow you think we forget who you handed America to on a silver platter and so its OK to stick your purist heads back up? Wrong! You failed our dear America when she needed you most.
He has a huge army of supporters left over from his terms as governor, all hoping for more patronage and perks. They must be driving his candidacy. I don’t know anyone else who supports him.
If Trump starts racking up 50%+ wins in states and the RNC tries to deny him, there will be trouble.
People should lay off the “open primaries” issue. The GOP can’t change state laws on that. Furthermore, New York already has closed primaries, but a NY district is highlighted in the article as an example of the anti-conservative bias in the rules.
The bias comes from the delegate allocation rules, which the GOP could change — if it wanted to be fair to conservatives.
We will not lay off the Open Primary issue. We are guaranteed a Republican form of Government. If the GOP is going to represent us as a party then we want what we are supposed to have; not democrats in heavy vote fraud states (Which the GOP agreed in settlement to not investigate) picking our candidates for us.
Yep winner take all, versus CD winner, etc. States make their own choice of how to allot
their delegates.
