Exxon Mobil Investigated for Possible Climate Change Lies by New York Attorney General
New York Times ^ | November 5, 2015 | By JUSTIN GILLIS and CLIFFORD KRAUSS

Posted on 11/06/2015 1:32:28 AM PST by Brad from Tennessee

The New York attorney general has begun an investigation of Exxon Mobil to determine whether the company lied to the public about the risks of climate change or to investors about how such risks might hurt the oil business.

According to people with knowledge of the investigation, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued a subpoena Wednesday evening to Exxon Mobil, demanding extensive financial records, emails and other documents.

The investigation focuses on whether statements the company made to investors about climate risks as recently as this year were consistent with the company’s own long-running scientific research.

The people said the inquiry would include a period of at least a decade during which Exxon Mobil funded outside groups that sought to undermine climate science, even as its in-house scientists were outlining the potential consequences — and uncertainties — to company executives.

Kenneth P. Cohen, vice president for public affairs at Exxon Mobil, said on Thursday that the company had received the subpoena and was still deciding how to respond.

“We unequivocally reject the allegations that Exxon Mobil has suppressed climate change research,” Mr. Cohen said, adding that the company had funded mainstream climate science since the 1970s, had published dozens of scientific papers on the topic and had disclosed climate risks to investors. . .

I'd respond by discontinuing doing business in a state that allows scam bogus investigations based on such left wing anti-business precepts. Let gasoline prices jump 5-10 cents a gallon on less competition and let the voters of of that state put his head on a pike.

This guy is the same one who is suing Trump over his Trump University and who then was counter sued by Trump for $100 million.

That thought occurred to me as well. But I wonder if the Exxon(s) of the world are actually willing to fight the good fight and expose the scam. Somehow I doubt it. Hopefully I’m wrong.

...demanding extensive financial records, emails and other documents.

What does that have to do with the global warming hoax?

I believe Exxon is a Texas-based corporation. The Attorney General of Texas should start an investigation of the Attorney General of New York for a violation of an appropriate Texas law. Does Texas have a state based RICO statute?

Unfortunately junk science has a good shot at winning.
This is NYS after all.

If they are of such intelligence that they continuously reelect the politicians who tax them to death, there is a better than fifty percent chance a jury of such people would find Exxon guilty.

Because, well, global warming has to be someone’s fault, right.

Mark Levin talked about this last night. You can get the podcast at his web site. Anyway, Mark Levin determined that they're caving, based on comments in the NYT article by Exxon officials.

It's hard for me to believe that this wasn't orchestrated by the communist in the White House.

We have to survive one more year of all-out war against the American people.

When I moved to Tallahassee 1994 there were only a handful of fast food restaurants because the city had imposed a one time $50,000 “fee” on anybody who wanted to serve food. A big hotel chain took them to court and won. Within a year there were fast food places popping up on every road, all doing well. The chain built a huge hotel near downtown. I figured the chain spent over a million on the lawsuit. I doubt they were compensated. I was impressed. So, it does happen. Though, why, I can’t figure. All they had to do was move the hotel a few miles either way on I-10.

Well, the Exxon’s of the world are out to make money, not to expose scams.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Absolutely correct.
The biggest problem is not *one* of them can see the problem.

The average NY voter can’t conceive of voting anything other than democrat.
I know, I have talked to them and seen the wall behind their eyes blocking out new ways of thinking.

This is the mark of the left: cannot beat one on the field, they take their case to the courts. It is an attempt to stifle debate. Since this guy is so concerned about comments from company officials which are opposed to what their internal records show, I suspect he will be investigating testimony from PP officials in 3 2 1 ....nope.
