“Here’s a factual mix-up: I was offered a scholarship to Cornell.
In reality, I talked to the Cornell folks after high school, and was told I was a good candidate for a science scholarship.
It’s possible that I could get that a little mixed up later. That’s what I think happened with Carson.”
Except no one at West Point has a record of even speaking with Carson on the matter!
And I'm sure there is no record at Cornell of anyone saying I was a good candidate for a science scholarship there.
Heck, the West Point remark to Carson could have even come from some visiting ROTC colonel. And Carson just mixed up the whole conversation in his mind.
Don't get me wrong. It is certainly possible that Carson deliberately lied to inflate his resume. So maybe I'm being too protective here. But I'm sick and tired of the lib's calling every last GOP misstep a "lie".
Carson never said he applied.
"He was introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC Supervisors," Bennett added. "They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission."
We need to be careful what we believe. It's so easy to slightly twist something out of proportion. Carson is the wrong black man and the left hates him.
