Will Airport Security Accept Your Driver’s License?
The New York Times ^ | 05 Nov 2015 | Rachel Lee Harris

Posted on 11/08/2015 8:02:04 AM PST by Theoria

Come 2016, your state driver’s license may not be enough to get you on a commercial flight.

On Oct. 10, the Department of Homeland Security began enforcing the last phase of the Real ID Act, which establishes minimum security standards for states and United States territories when issuing identification, primarily driver’s licenses; and prohibits certain government facilities and — most relevant to travelers — the Transportation Security Administration from accepting them as proof of identification if they were issued by a noncompliant state.

But don’t fret just yet. Initially, enforcement is limited to those entering federal and military facilities and nuclear power plants. D.H.S. plans to announce a schedule of changes to travel requirements by the end of 2015, and none will be enforced without at least 120 days’ notice to state officials and the public, the agency said.

Many states, including New York, have already been granted an extension through Oct. 10, 2016, in order to reach compliance. Several others are in the process of applying for renewals of extensions that currently stave off enforcement through Jan. 10, 2016. Those that can prove they are actively working toward compliance are likely to be granted more time, the agency said.

Only two, American Samoa and Minnesota, have yet to make an effort to comply with the new standards or apply for an extension.

The Act, which passed in 2005 and has been implemented in phases since 2013, calls for a minimum set of standards when issuing licenses, including, but not limited to, verification of a person’s date of birth, social security account (or ineligibility for the program), residence and citizenship status, among other requirements and procedures.

The UN has lots of plans. And none of them ever happen.

Forget passports, bring on the biometrics!

Actually.... Why not go straight to the chip under the skin that can be scanned? It's coming soon anyway!! Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. How much can you do in America without your social security number?

Next to my office in town is an antique shop and every day they wheel out a couple racks of old books. On one of these carts was a large bound folio containing the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, Gettysburg Address, Pledge of Allegiance, and lyrics of The Star Spangled Banner.

The publication has no date on it anywhere, but the U.S. flags illustrated have 50 stars.

What hit me the hardest was the back cover:

"Right to move about freely at home and abroad"?

That "right" is just another footnote in the history of a Republic that died long ago.

The differences are fewer and fewer. Sure, there, technically are not midnight knocks on the door (yet) but there is a technocratic system in place to urge you to censor yourself.

On that same note, I recently heard that Facebook was working on or had a technology where they could monitor and analyze posts you made but had second thoughts about posting and never did post.

I just got my new VA drivers license. It’s pretty impressive with all kinds of protections.

At the convenience store I stop at to get coffee in the morning, they card 60 year-old men wanting to buy disposable cigarette lighters. Every time this happens in front of me, I warn that person that one day, probably soon, he will need ID to purchase a local newspaper... and remind him to vote for the Constitutional Conservative of his choice... from local Coroner, Dogcatcher, Judge, and Schoolboard... all the way to the President.

Yup-- it's clear the Dems view the TSA as another government (especially minority) employment program, which is why Obama allowed them to unionize.

Neither Bush nor Obama ever had any real intent to secure the borders.

As a consequence, we have to face an external security problem (Muslim terrorists) become an internal security problem (radicalized domestic Muslims).

Their response? Tyrannize and humiliate the 99% of the population that's not Muslim and use the TSA to enforce a slew of other despotic ordinances like "money laundering" against a hapless populace.

In addition, they can get to gether with the air monopolies and use the "security" process as a way of extorting cash in the form of TS-Pre, etc., for the "privilege" of not being harassed and humiliated at the airport.

Gangster government at its worst.

“The UN has lots of plans. And none of them ever happen”

Really? Not really your fault that you don’t know the degree to which the UN Sustainable Development/Agenda 21 plan has been implemented since 1994. You would be shocked.

Not shocked at all. Functionally it doesn’t even exist. It’s another typical UN non-binding whine fest. The only thing shocking is how many people think it’s the BIG THREAT. It’s like the rest of the UN, hollow and pointless.

That's what obamasnare is allahbout.

What do you think will happen when the ID Thief in Chief has enough bank routing numbers to force the banks to only accept the chip as valid ID? They're planning massive ID theft to force this very situation.

Your money or your eternal life.

Floriduh has been forcing the new standards on new licenses and in-person renewals. There is a FL statute that allows one renewal cycle to be online and without photo update so that is the easiest backdoor for existing citizens to avoid all the big-brother hurdles to renew in-person.
