I emailed him, as a monthly supporter. I said that this concerned me and I’d heard that he supported a 500% increase in these H1B visas. I told him that I knew a lot of tech people, many of which lost retirement benefits, cannot get another job in the tech industry, etc. I’m not saying that he listened to my complaint, but I am very glad that he has addressed this right away. In every other way, he is the most conservative candidate out there, and I think the one who’d really keep his word the most.
Cruz is the most conservative candidate. Trump’s record the last 20 years minus immigration is really close to Gulliani. They don’t like to talk about that though.
Trump has no record to disparage. He has never held office before.

What clarification?! Did Cruz disavow his support for 500% increase in H1B or does he just want to fine-tune H1B? No go. He has a loser proposition, day late, dollar short.
Good point. We’d be foolish to nominate a candidate who has no record, giving us no idea of how he would govern. It’s playing Russian Roulette with the presidency.

Hey Ted, start investigating every engineering company and look at the malpractice of the H-1B program that has taken place for the past decade.

Yeah, you oppose a bad bill by trying to make it good with amendments. And by calling out the Democrats who veto those amendments to prove just how radical their policies really are.
And you don’t ever consider that what was said 20 years ago may not be believed today?
Trump has changed his mind on a number of issues and has been open and up front about it
It is duplicitous to continue to refer to one but refuse to acknowledge the other. People change their mind on position. Many times those who change their minds are more dedicated to a cause for coming to that position later.
Including being a registered democrat up to September 2009. That would be only 6 years ago. Trust him at your peril.
Cruz offered a compromise to the Gang of Eight. It had the effect of stopping the Gang of Eight bill. If you’ll recall, before Cruz threw a monkey wrench into the works, the Gang of Eight amnesty was moving quickly toward passage.
The compromise required border security, no amnesty or legal status for illegal immigrants, and the famous increases in H1-Bs. In exchange for the increase in H1-Bs by 260,000, the bill sought to raise the mandatory wage rate, so bringing in foreigners for fairly low-level work would no longer be profitable. Also in the compromise was a cut in legal unskilled immigration by 500,000. The net effect was to stop amnesty for illegals, and to reduce legal immigratikn.
This before trump grabbed on to the issue.

Those amendments would, in Ted Cruz's words, have granted RPI and LPI status to 11 million illegals to "bring them out of the shadows." That is not making the bill good. That is a nice, juicy present to the cheap labor brigade. On top of that, Cruz's team lies about it:

Ted Cruz, to this day, continues to redefine the word "amnesty" so that if his 2013 bill were to pass, he would call it "not amnesty". He refuses when questioned on the topic of deportation to even acknowledge it, but simply states that there will be a "conversation" when elected.

You've had this pointed out to you many times, but you still continue to spread the lie that Cruz's team was merely trying to "show how radical the Dems are." This is Ted Cruz's bill. This is the bill he wants. It is the bill he still wants. There is no denying it.
Cruz has made it clear that he supported amnesty—allowing illegals to stay, but not become citizens. In his own way, Trump unfortunately has suggested the same (with a touchback program).
I’d like to see them both get tougher on the issue, but I’m not keen on Cruz lying about it.
Also, Cruz voting for TPA, greasingthe skids for Obama’s massive immigration giveaway in the TPP.
Trump has changed his entire party affiliation. We are not talking about an old southern democrat who has seen the light. He is a calculating Mew York liberal. Romney should be a terrific example of someone to trust in regards to flip flopping... Open your eyes and look past the flashiness of Trump the candidate. Honestly take a look logically at who he is and what we know about him and who he has supported in the past.
As I’ve said before, Reagan was able to be tested as a Conservative after switching parties. He did a pretty bang-up job in CA before becoming president. Furthermore, he held onto his positions for a good 20 years or so before he became president. Trump’s positions have “evolved” over a 3-year span. Is that really good enough?
