GHWB is a good reminder not to get too sentimental about the Greatest Generation. They had their share of flakes, too.

He's in his 90s. Nobody supported gay marriage for most of his lifetime.

Bush certainly didn't. Neither did Goldwater. Gay marriage was at most a joke until about 20 years ago.

But I get it. It's all about the emotional response, not about what may be factually true.
