Chris Matthews Not Sure if Cruz, Rubio Really Hispanic; They're 'Cuban Nationals' Though

According to Chris Matthews, it's uncertain whether the term Hispanic can properly be used to describe GOP presidential aspirants Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Marco Rubio (Florida). It's better to say they are "Cuban nationals," offered the Hardball host on his Nov. 11 program.

Matthews's remarks came during a roundtable discussion in which Huffington Post's Amanda Terkel was outlining how she believes Cruz will seek to paint fellow Cuban-American Rubio as too moderate for the party's nomination:

MSNBC
Hardball
Nov. 11, 2015; 7:44 p.m. Eastern

AMANDA TERKEL: ...you started to see in the debate last night where they drew more contrasts on policy, starting to preview a little bit more –

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Who's out to get who?

TERKEL: Uh, I think Ted Cruz. You already saw he's starting to get Marco Rubio. Didn't call him out by name but started to preview, you know, you don't want someone's who's soft on immigration, you don't want someone supporting sugar subsidies, for example. So, Trump and Carson, they didn't go after each other. But –

MATTHEWS: Sugar subsidies are worthy of a presidential debate now.

TERKEL: – it's going to get nastier.

MATTHEWS: I couldn't believe that last night.

TERKEL: I was surprised it was mentioned too, but, you know, he is clearly watching Rubio.

MATTHEWS: So you're trying to insinuate that Marco Rubio, a fellow, uh, Spanish surname, I'm not sure the right word is Hispanic for them, because they are Cuban nationals or whatever, or come from Cuba. But, uh, is he going to insinuate that he is still basically for what he calls amnesty?

TERKEL: I think he is. And, I mean Rubio got very, very lucky last night in that he did not have to jump into the immigration debate. He skated by, he got some slightly easier questions. And you saw Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Donald Trump get in there on immigration. But Rubio didn't have to do it, but he's going to have to, obviously.

Let’s see is Matthews white? Not sure. Claims to be Irish I think, but you can’t trust them, after all.

He claims to be straight. Bet he’s not. Nope bet bigtime.

How about American. We’ve never even seen his birth certificate.

You can’t trust anyone anymore.

I’m not sure if Rubio and Cruz have ever been to Cuba but if they haven’t, how in the hell can they be “Cuban Nationals”. Chrissie must be smokin’ something.

Maybe Matthews needs some set of Nuremburg Laws so that he can know for sure if someone fits into this category or that category.

As a Conservative, I really don't care. But the Socialists seem to really fixate on this sort of thing.

You see, if a hispanic is a Republican, he isn’t really a hispanic. Its like being black. If you’re black, but you’re a Republican, you aren’t really black. Or, just pick something from your random ethnicity generator. Polish. If you’re Polish, but you’re Republican, you aren’t really Polish. We could keep this up all day.

“MATTHEWS: Sugar subsidies are worthy of a presidential debate now.”

No, but according to your network operatives Chrissy, fantasy football is worthy.

Matthews, the racist, lives in a neighborhood that is around 97% or 98% white. He has no knowledge who or who isn’t Hispanic.

So, turns out libs know the real problem is Mexicans.

So, to hide exactly about whom we should be worried, they call illegals “Hispanic”. Meaning, Mexican.

So, these 2 are not “real Hispanics” because they are not Mexican. For libs. In true terminology, Cubans are Hispanic.

See what these subversive libs are doing, again?

My surname is French, but since I was born here and my ancestors were in what is now the U.S.A. long before the Revolution, I’m sure not the hell French! I’m an American.

Coincidentally I’m not sure why CM is allowed outside a cage where he presents a danger to sane people.

I think he is not that smart. I am not just saying that either. He really is dumb. He has strong opinions and a strong bullying personality which allows him to push his garbage without really knowing what he is doing.

His appearing on “Jeopardy” was a foolish mistake. He showed that he was not very intelligent but the fact that he went on it means he thought he actually was.

And the next-door island that comprises DR and Haiti is called Hispaniola.
I don’t expect, though, the bean-counter from liber-land to know what constitutes an hispanic and what doesn’t.
Of course they style themselves as oh so sensitive on these matters, too.
Just don’t let any of em dare be conservative.

“Claims to be Irish I think...”

If the name “Matthews” is Irish, then he’s an Irish National (according to his thinking) so make him go back to Ireland.
