Trump: I never said wages are too high

Trump: I never said wages are too high By ELIZA COLLINS 11/12/15 06:53 PM EST Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Donald Trump on Thursday clarified his comments from Tuesday night's GOP debate about wages being too high, saying the blowback has been misguided.

The billionaire businessman was asked during the Fox Business debate about whether he was sympathetic to protesters who have been pushing for the minimum wage to be raised to $15 an hour.

“I can’t be…and the reason I can’t be is because we are a country that is being beaten on every front,” Trump said on Tuesday night. “Taxes too high, wages too high, we’re not going to be able to compete against the world.”

But on Fox News’ “Special Report” Thursday he insisted that he never said wages were too high, just that the minimum wage should not increase.

“I didn’t say that. Bret, we were talking about the minimum wage, and they said ‘should we increase the minimum wage?’ And I’m saying that if we’re going to compete with other countries we can’t do that because the wages would be too high,” Trump said after host Bret Baier asked him about his comments.

There was no flip-flop, you are taking what Trump said out of context. That is called intellectual dishonesty. Let's talk about substance, you know like Cruz's vote for TPA and the corker bill. Or his stated position on Amnesty, even though Cruz says legalizing illegal aliens is not amnesty. We all know it is.

Here is a vid link that is a minute longer than the other one posted here. It puts it in context.

Trump says, taxes are too high, and the wage too high ... I hate to say it but we have to leave it the way it is. People are going to have to work really hard to get into the higher strata.

When would trump every say wages are too high?

Yes the topic was minimum wages. Raise that and your savings are worth less and everything costs way more. Cause and effect.

Again, what does Cruz have to do with it? I watched the debate. Trump said the wage is too high and then blatantly counters his own statement here.

Thanks for putting it in context. In Trumpean English, if it were transcribed, a dash would provide the context.

Why do you post something out of context, knowing most FReepers are going to check it out, and see the dishonesty in your post.

For Trump more specifically the subject was about the hiking the minimum wage to $15

I did catch Cruz naming 2 departments twice. Hey, at least he could remember them unlike Ricardo Perry

Apparently I’m a ‘fakefreeper’ (see the thread tags) for posting about this inconsistency. Lol, I expect to be soon given the join date check any second now.. you know, the whole: ‘Welcome to FR’ schtick. I don’t see as much juvenile antics from the Cruz Crew.

Perhaps a better way to express it would be to state that a $15 minimum wage will push even more citizens out of the workforce.

My answer would have been:

The minimum wage can never be raised above zero. If start paying people not to work it ceases to be a wage.

The $15.00 an hour being pushed will simply throw more people out of work.

The $15.00 an hour will hurt the poor

The better solution is to pursue policies that lower the cost of living and improve the job market which will help the poor.

Raising the minimum wage is a policy to pacify idiots.

That is less than 90 seconds to say
Less than 90 seconds

“But on Fox News’ “Special Report” Thursday he insisted that he never said wages were too high, just that the minimum wage should not increase.”

It’s pretty clear that that’s what me meant. Yes maybe he wasn’t clear in one statement. Nice try POLITICO.

Ted Cruz is a good man. Notice him and Donald don’t criticize each other. What’s his position on the minimum wage issue?

The one good thing about a $15 min wage is that you can bargain with a degree and say that their 30k staring wage is min wage. And it might push up wages.

Wages would be a LOT higher if we had the govt our Constitution specified (then, your illegal point might be moot)

There are 90 million people out of work. If there is a job I’m sure someone will fill the spot!!!
