From what has been reported in the news, the terrorists in the theater didn't use their vests right away. Shooting a terrorist who is wearing a suicide vest often negates their plan. Also, as has been learned by our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, if you see someone approaching who is wearing a vest, or looks like they are, ordering them to stop at gunpoint tells you pretty quickly if they actually are planning an attack.
You all seemed to have missed the point.
Sure, given the exact situation in Paris where the terrorists shot a bunch of people, then set off a suicide bomb (assuming that the one’s doing the shooting were the one’s with the suicide vests), a gun would have helped.
Normally, they don’t do it that way. In cases where they don’t , a gun would not help.
What I was trying to point out is that letting the enemy set up camp in your house is where the problem starts, and where it should be eliminated.
People in Paris, and people here should not have to walk around worrying about someone blowing them up.
