I suspect that the guard was mohamedan. If you note in the article, it states, “The Wall Street Journal spoke to one of the security team on duty at the stadium named only as Zouheir.” ‘Zouheir’ sounds like it may be Algerian.
If private security in France is anything like private security in Canada, most security guards are immigrants and quite possibly, the guard that denied access was ‘visibly’ moslem (ie: African or Middle Eastern). THAT would make sense that the bomber would back away from the guard, go elsewhere and blow himself up, to kill ‘infidels’, rather than fellow moslems. Too bad La Surete weren’t able to get him first.
