Why? Because the US is exceptional and must be the only nation even close to the ability to exert power, even regionally? Or because they are both out for world domination too?
Top notch world powers, like the biggest kids in the neighborhood, always go toe to toe. It’s human nature. There can be only one big dog, one Alpha. Sooner or later, it all comes down to this.
