One slight correction. Your document wasn’t from 1912. “Charles, Emperor of Austria and Apostolic King of Hungary” did not become such until Franz Josef died in 1916. And Charles was deposed at the end of WW One in 1918. Immigrants usually filed this document (”First Papers”) five years after arrival, so this was probably signed in or near 1917.

Yeah, without digging around for the document I believe he didn't became a full citizen until 1925 or so.
