The United States is not aware of any credible threat of a Paris-style attack, FBI Director James Comey announced Thursday in a joint briefing with Attorney General Loretta Lynch in Washington.

“We are not aware of any credible threat here of a Paris-type attack, and we have seen no connection at all between the Paris attackers" and the United States, Comey said.

The question he should have be asked next is, "Did you have intel about the Paris attack before it occurred?"

If not, then his excuse belies his assertion that the "vetting" is reliable.

You see those ISIS members on numerous videos specifically threatening to attack the US have no credibility.

They have neither the capacity nor the interest in attacking the US.

They have never demonstrated the ability to carry out such threats.

I wounder what ISIS is going to have to do to ever be taken seriously. It must be very frustrating for them to constantly been warning of attacks and carrying them out only to be referred to by our government as having 'no credibility' over and over again.

Of course he is going to say this, regardless. What do you expect? Would anyone really want him to say "Well, we know a group is targeting X, but don't worry, we're on them." Right. Then of course that group knows they're done and goes underground, figures out who their source is and kills him/her, or goes to plan B... any number of nasty options.

Why do people even bother to ask security types if there is a threat. They will never say anything meaningful because it would give away too much.

If the FBI Director’s statement is correct and factual, then it is an incredibly stupid statement for him to make.

He just issued a “double dog dare you” to every terrorist individual and group to prove him wrong. Not to mention significant numbers of individuals among the lunatic fringe who were not engaged on this matter, but now may decide to also take up the challenge.

“No comment,” or “I can nether confirm nor deny,” are much more professional, mature, and useful comments.

It ain’t over until it is over. AQ hit the WTC in 1993 and came back again in 2001 to finish the job. I suspect any major ISIS attack will be a spectacular one. Maybe they are waiting until Obama leaves office.
