Leathers are protective clothing and about the only thing with enough abrasion resistance to keep your skin on if some idiot pulls out in front of you or cuts you off and you end up skidding down the road.
They come in one basic color: black.
It has nothing to do with dressing like outlaws if 99% of the people who wear them aren't criminals.
Maybe the outlaws are dressing like us.
Club patches are there to separate who is who, they are as distinctive as military unit insignia, only larger.
Again, if 99% of those who wear them aren't engaging in criminal activity, maybe it is the outlaws who are imitating us.
We tend to ride in groups, partly for fellowship, but mainly because it makes it harder for someone to claim they didn't see us when they run over one of us. There is safety in numbers when people who look upon us as subhumans (Thanks, Hollywood a$$hole$!) run into or over or pull out in front of us and claim "but officer, I didn't see him".
Intimidation of the public?
I can't help it if Hollywood has tried to make bikers into bad guys. But then we both know Hollywood would never get anything wrong, right?
As for intimidation, I can't help what it takes for you to lose bladder and/or bowel control. That sounds like a personal problem. Maybe you should see a doctor.
But frankly, if it keeps dipShit$, whiners, and suckbutts from a pain in the butt, maybe it's a good thing. If no one harbors the 'smart' idea to kick over $20,000+ worth of motorcycle, we won't be so tempted to treat them badly. A little intimidation can stop a lot of crap before it happens, and no one needs to get so much as a hard feeling, much less get gunned down by the intimidators in blue and brown doing Obama's work of trying to intimidate the most freedom-loving group of people you are ever going to meet--because an awful lot of them fought for that freedom. Oh, I forgot, you will be off somewhere changing your depends, so you likely won't meet them.
As for criminals, the real criminals are running around in suits and limos, some on the Government payroll, and they don't have anything to do with the rank and file bikers.
Terrorism?
When was the last time a biker blew themselves up and took out a schoolyard or a busload? When was the last time a biker went nuts and drove a SUV into a crowd of college kids? When was the last time a biker went nuts and shot up a workplace?
Take your terrorism statement and your ISIS sh*t and shove it, bucko, that's what the Obamite Government wants to push here, even though most of the bikers I know are veterans. Some are Christian ministers. Maybe you Obamites consider US military veterans and Christians to be "terrorists" (Reminds me of North Vietnamese Communist rhetoric, crap like "air pirates"), but then, you are the one here pushing the meme, either from ignorance or because you are one of the enemies of the Republic.

I sincerely hope that most Texans have an IQ higher than the January low temps in Dallas, at least the potential jury pool. Any decent defense attorney would strike you from the jury panel for cause so fast your little pea brain wouldn't quit doing laps around the inside of your skull for a month, unless you opened your mouth and it escaped.
