Sadly, we've come to expect attempts at "sanitizing" the Christmas holiday to strip it of Christian connotations that might offend the perpetually-offended, just as we've come to expect President Obama's lack of respect both for our Constitution and the men and women who've valiantly served to protect it. But when the Obama administration combined these three fouls into one giant hat trick, it didn't go over so well with veterans who wish to mark one of the biggest Christian holidays of the year.

President Barack Obama's Department of Veterans Affairs has banned employees at its facility in Salem, Virginia, from saying "Merry Christmas" to veterans.
It started as a broader ban that included Christmas trees. Federal law recognizes Christmas as an official federal holiday (5 U.S.C. § 6103) and provides federal employees with a paid day off to celebrate the Christian belief in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ.
Every year, a White House Christmas Tree and a Capitol Christmas Tree grace those two respective buildings in Washington D.C., and a National Christmas Tree is also officially lighted outdoors for the public to enjoy during that time of year.
Yet the "Executive Leadership Team" at the Salem VA Medical Center banned Christmas trees, as well as other Christian speech and celebrations. As reported by local media, an email sent by senior staff to the center's employees reads in part:
...Public areas may only be decorated in a manner that is celebratory of the winter season. Displays must not promote any religion. Please note that trees (regardless of the types of ornaments used) have been deemed to promote the Christian religion and will not be permitted in any public areas this year.
Just hours ago, pressure from the center's employees caused the management team to cave on the Christmas...

Unless your company has some safety-based reason for forbidding jewelry, wear a cross or crucifix. Pin a cross to your lapel or wear it as a tie-tac. Wear it as a pin on your dress.
We piss and moan about the “War on Christmas” and the “War of Christians” as the Proggies seek to remove all signs of Christ from the public arena.
Christ doesn’t live in a tree! He doesn’t live in a plastic manger! He lives in US. If we become the public symbols of Christ, then they will have to remove US.
And then, we have to decide what to do next.

Wait. The White House has a Christmas tree (albeit with Chairman Mao), but the VA can’t? What happened to equality under the law? Does hanging Mao on the tree negate the evils of Christianity?
I remember when the Library Director came out at a staff meeting and forbid us from wearing Christian symbols. I told her I’d been wearing my cross and St. Christopher for my entire adult life and would continue to do so.
Shocked faces all around but I don’t even take them off to shower, not taking them off so I don’t offend someone.
We need signs at Christmas in front of the white House, ISLAM is a LIE, Mohaam is a liar, Christmas celebrates the birth of the savior Jesus Christ, the only path to Heaven, to Hell with all those who reject Him..that includes you MR President.

About this traditional winter holiday? I know nothing about any such thing and have never had a holiday tree or other decorations. Now we do celebrate Christmas in its traditional meaning. A glorious holiday!! Merry Christmas.

I have a cousin who passed on a couple of years ago and was a long-time VA volunteer.
He would go NUTS if he heard this and would have marched into the VA carrying a Christmas tree.

I was told to take off my brown scapular by the TSA. Under my clothes it showed up on the xray.
I refused.
I think I’ll wear it outside my tops from now on. I’m consecrated so the scapular must be worn. If muslims can wear the head covering, I can wear the brown scapular.
I don’t particularly want to be in someone’s face, but I think we need to take a stand as you did.
