RT spoke to Jurgen Todenhofer, the first Western journalist who was allowed to enter territory controlled by the so-called Islamic State. A year ago, he spent 10 days among the terrorists, also visiting Raqqa, the capital of the self-proclaimed caliphate.
To arrange the journey, Todenhofer held Skype discussions with Islamic State (formerly ISIS/ISIL) for six months before they agreed to his visit.

There isn’t any doubt about this story. It’s out there for the whole world to compare.
Even if you kill all of your enemy you won’t win until all of the surviving supporters choose to stop fighting.
Like cancer, you can kill all of the tumors, but if even one cell escapes and hides, it will start another tumor some day, growing and spreading.
About 1% of all the 1.2 billion sunni muslims are salafists, the breeding ground of ISIL. That’s 12 million muslims that believe in violent jihad.
Other than the men’s beards they look and outwardly act like any other muslim. They are spread out in every sunni society.
They absolutely believe that violent jihad is the only true path.
They absolutely believe that dying brings more glory and benefits than living.
Marines and Special Operations forces are quite content to kill them all. It is up to the politicians to point them out.

Sure you will. You simply have to hurt them bad enough to break their hearts and kill the will to fight. This was done to Germany and Japan to the point that they are utterly traumatized and pacifist 7 decades later.

One can only win when all of your enemy permanently chooses to stop fighting. The losing side always chooses when victory over themselves is complete.

To paraphrase Patton, our Special Forces and Marines are more than willing and able to make some other poor bastard die for their country...they would be more than willing to help them fulfill their desire to die for their cause...
I read a good article a month or so back (wish I had bookmarked it)where a retired military officer outlined a plan where a force of Marines properly supported with logistics, air and artillery could defeat the major ISIS forces in 30 days. I don’t remember the size of the force, but it was smaller than a MEF and larger than a MEB...

Let me preemptively say that there is no appeasement of evil, and I'm not advocating that. However, I think it is very important to underscore that despite the left’s accusation of ‘global warming’ fueling radicalization, it's actually more accurate to pin some of the responsibility on the celebrity-based society that the left have engendered.
We have replaced the search for meaning and spirituality with the search for ‘fame’ and ‘recognition’. There are plenty of dispossessed and lost people out there who feel like their lives don't matter. Some here will probably say that they are losers, and maybe they are to some extent, but then maybe we all are to some extent.
One of the things that has always impressed me about conservatism is that it seems to value all life, irrespective of whether or not 10,000 hits come up when you search your name on google. I think one important weapon we have against radicalization is the ability to convince people that they matter, even if they're not occupying an office in Washington DC, aren't on television every night, and aren't written about by the media. This obviously isn't likely to stop those who grew up being taught hatred in the Madrassa’s, but it just might have an effect on enough people to make meaningful change.
Every society has members who feel inadequate in some way. ISIL offers young male sunnis weapons to obtain the power and recognition they crave.
I mention the size of the enemy to point out the absurdity of trying to kill them all.
I do value life but we must value killing the killers more. Otherwise we are nothing more than sheep to the slaughter.
Any messages the West has to offer marginalized sunnis would fall on deaf ears.
Islamic civilization is collapsing. The most talented arabs are leaving arab lands en masse and joining the West. That will be a bumpy merger but it is irreversible and the long term solution to radicalization.
