WASHINGTONâA former staff member on the House Benghazi committee is suing the committeeâs chairman for defamation, alleging he made false and reckless statements to the news media denigrating him.
In a suit filed Monday in federal court, former committee investigator Maj. Bradley Podliska alleges that Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) and committee staff made ânumerous false allegations to multiple national news outletsâ after he announced his intention to sue the panel earlier this year over his termination from the committee.

As a sitting member of congress I don’t think he can be sued for his official statements/actions.
I thought CongressCritters couldn’t be sued for—ahem—doing their job.
This opens up a realm of limitless possibilities.
I’m sure Trey will open up an investigation into this and hold a press conference.
There’s an upside to being a `do-nothing’ Congress.
That’s why I call him, TV Trey.
Gowdy responds.
Which Congressman did he work for? HOW did Trey defame him?
This guy is has to know a defamation suit against a Congressman will go nowhere (Defamation is hard enough to prove, but he’d also have to establish that Gowdy made the offending comments while acting outside his official capacity). Either this guy was a pro-Hillary plant from the get go or is a snowflake with an inflated sense of value.
Both talk, and talk, and talk and talk and talk...
I had hoped for a change, but all we got was an ex-DA with a polite, southern drawl, BB balls and a DC game player.
They could have subpoenaed the hildabutchbitch, and made her come in private, but gowdy allowed her to come in for the TV bullshit show and tell for 11 wasted hours.
No balls, and doesn't want to nail the bitch.
