I'm very familiar with Manhattan and the view from the top of the 68-story Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, which is where Trump lives, would have a direct line of sight to the World Trade Center - about 7 miles away.

With some binoculars or a telescope, which I'm sure Trump has up there, you would be able to see the people jumping. It was a crystal clear day on 9/11 in Manhattan.

That’s a good point. Trump’s people need to have him ready to talk about his magnifying devices when he’s asked about it -— which he most certainly will be.

Thank you so much.

Odd that a plain, ole cameraman managed to get shots of men jumping so that I could see one of the poor souls on my TV hugging (holding tightly) his briefcase and I was watching TV in San Diego, CA that horrid morning.

I would think binoculars would be standard equipment in a tower like that. Someone not having them would be more uncommon. Probably like reading glasses. Who says, “I read a book last night with my reading glasses?

I’m looking at google maps and I’d say the distance is less then 4 miles. You can read a newspaper head line at that distance with a decent telescope. Trump could have easily seen people jumping with a pair of binoculars. And who doesn’t keep a pair of binoculars handy?

If you had a south-facing window in a tall-enough building in midtown, you’d have had no problem seeing the World Trade Center towers. One of my first jobs in New York was at 39th between 5th and 6th (probably less than a mile south of Trump Tower). We had an excellent view of the towers from the 18th floor. They seemed very lalarge from 39th St. If I had worked there on 9/11, I think I might have been able to tell human beings from falling debris without binoculars. Falling debris doesn’t have arms and legs waving around.
