Moscow plans to suspend military cooperation with Ankara after the downing of a Russian bomber by Turkish air forces, Russian General Staff representatives said on Tuesday. Further measures to beef up Russian air base security in Syria will also be taken.

Sergey Rudskoy, a top official with the Russian General Staff, condemned the attack on the Russian bomber in Syrian airspace by a Turkish fighter jet as âa severe violation of international lawâ. He stressed that the Su-24 was downed over the Syrian territory. The crash site was four kilometers away from the Turkish border, he said.

And we are off!
I read a report that it was only Turkish Airspace because Turkey moved the line in about 2012. It is really in Syria.
Putin should just host a climate change summit -that will stop them & show who’s in charge!
That map is wrong.
There are lots of disputed borders over there. When creating aviation charts, the charts have to be produced based on the consumer: Move the border one way for one customer, move the border over for a different customer.
Who was Ambassador Stevens meeting with in Benghazi while the gun-running was going on?
Why, that would be a representative of Turkey.
This was all about the Turkmen not borders.
Turkey summons Russian envoy over bombing of Turkmens in Syria: PM
ANKARA
Turkey has summoned Russia’s ambassador in protest over the “intensive” bombing of Turkmen villages in northern Syria by Russian warplanes, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters on Friday.
In the meeting with the ambassador, Andrei Karlov, Turkey called for an immediate end to the Russian military operation, which is near the Turkish border, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
“It was stressed that the Russian side’s actions were not a fight against terror, but they bombed civilian Turkmen villages and this could lead to serious consequences,” the foreign ministry said.
Ankara has traditionally expressed solidarity with the Syrian Turkmen, who are Syrians of Turkish descent.
It has been disputed since 1939..
The Gulf of Tonkin called.
Wanting to know why it’s been left out this time.
This “bombed civilians” is horsepoop. Muslims hide among civilians. So, bomb the civilians too. They can oust the muslims or ask for help in doing so but they cannot just sit there and do nothing.
They messed with Putin...this will get ugly!
The 2012 reference is this incident

Just noticed this quote
“Erdogan criticized Syria harshly on Tuesday for shooting down the Turkish fighter jet, saying: “Even if the plane was in their airspace for a few seconds, that is no excuse to attack.”
“It was clear that this plane was not an aggressive plane. Still it was shot down,” he said.”
Gee, could not see this coming. Thanks Obama.
Istanbul would be of interest to Russia...
“excellent !”
“Three steps as announced by top brass:
1) Each and every strike groups’ operation is to be carried out under the guise of fighter jets
2) Air defense to be boosted with the deployment of Moskva guided missile cruiser off Latakia coast with an aim to destroy any target that may pose danger
3) Military contacts with Turkey to be suspended”
This tells us if a Russian plane is shot at, then expect the Russian Navy to launch a cruise missile attack to take out the Turkish Air Defenses and possibly more targets.
You can sure bet the Russian Air Force will be provoking Turkey over, over and over ...daring them to do it. That way will have their excuse to attack.
Which could lead to World War III.
