Outrage as military vehicles, equipment taken from officers in wake of Obama order

Valuable vehicles and equipment are being yanked from law enforcement agencies across the country by the Obama administration in the wake of the president’s post-Ferguson order -- as sheriffs and lawmakers tell FoxNews.com the equipment is needed, and losing it could put officers and the communities they serve in danger.

"These things are useful tools and the president taking them away will put more officers in jeopardy and at risk of harm or even death. I don’t know how he can sleep at night knowing his actions will have those repercussions," Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Ala., told FoxNews.com.

President Obama issued Executive Order 13688 in January after the 2014 riots in Ferguson, Mo., amid concerns about the "militarization" of the police fueling a heavy-handed response.

You’ll most likely wait a long time, and that will be soon. There’s an increasing reluctance(and rightly so) among young men to get into the business of serving as law enforcement officers. Under the circumstances, and because of people who think like you, I sure wouldn’t want my son to follow. But don’t worry. The gap will be filled handily and quickly by the savy criminals and hardened thugs that Obama is releasing onto the streets and demanding that society embrace as upstanding citizens. Good luck. You’re going to need it. Maybe the next knife wielding “child” will be coming for you. Don’t forget that officers with guns and deadly force arrive on the scene when someone cries “help!” If you really feel as you have said, perhaps you could apply to be a neighborhood watchman and load up your pockets with lollipops and McDonalds coupons instead of a gun. I’m sure your neighborhood would be safe from any and all threats and you could “talk” even the most unruly thug into a sit down.

Meanwhile, I prefer to respect those who put their lives on the line for me and mine every day. They’re all that stands between us and the wet dreams of killers and thugs and the line is getting mighty thin. If you think our present law enforcement is too tough, just wait awhile. Not only will the force that keeps order have military equipment, they will BE the military. You won’t be allowed to have a car, or a dog; your grandmother will be “humanely” euthanized and your children will be in indoctrination facilities. That’ exactly where this nation is headed because too many people are so sure that law and order is for everyone else except them.

Your crass and obvious disregard for the lives of law enforcement in the line of duty and their “getting a face full of 9mm makes it hard for me to care much about your welfare too. A person with such a mindset has undoubtedly been on the wrong side of the law his or herself. Here’s a simple solution for you and everyone who thinks as you do. Don’t call. Stand on what you believe and handle it yourself. Then, if you survive; handle the consequences as bravely as you talk.

Now that your ideas seem to have gained traction and the police have had their heavy weapons taken away; perhaps something can be done to take them away from the drug cartels and criminals. What do you think? Too much?

“This SWAT stuff in every two bit berg is out of hand.”

The SWAT stuff is out of hand because so-called conservatives sit on their fat, useless asses and bitch about it on their computers. If stupid conservatives got off their Mammon-worshipping butts and elected a pro-2nd Amendement, Constitutional sheriff, they wouldn’t need to worry about SWAT goons.

We have a constitutional sheriff in our county. He’s run two police chiefs out of the county who harassed citizens. He’s also offering classes for citizens who need to learn about self-defense. He can also muster a 2,000-man (battalion strength) heavily armed auxiliary deputy force for “emergencies.”

Oh shut up.

“We have a constitutional sheriff in our county”

So do we dipstick. Its a national problem and its not the fault of conservatives fat and/or useless. The Homeland Security Agency has been handing this stuff out like candy via the 40 or so fusion centers located throughout the country. Am I going too fast for you? So anyway the bells and whistles are hard to say no to for a lot of these little bergs. Its free so they take it. Concentrate here because I’m going to make the point. The point is that the Federal Government has no business giving military equipment to counties and municipalities in the first place. The root of the problem has nothing to do with your sheriff.

You start throwing slurs at people you get it back. Try to study up next time and have a clue before you look like you just got off the short bus.

I can tell you have plenty of experience riding the short bus, little rabbit.

Why not try to rebut with some factual insight on the matter at hand? You know something beyond you gotta constitutional sheriff and a pint of apple shine. :-)

Well I think most of the cops are officer friendly unless they need to be unfriendly. At least in our area. IMO the problem with all this equipment is that it just makes it too easy to start using SWAT for incidents that you used to send a couple of officers out to a house for. Or even two squad cars. Serving search warrants and even arresting people used to be several cops arriving at the door and serving the warrant. Most people go peaceably.

From the last posts, it looks like the ‘roided, skin-headed, bloused booted ninja wanna-be’s are starting to panic.

Yes, but then there are two places where the keys may be obtained. Many small town depots are not guarded except by a fence.

Just watching Fox about the murder-by-cop in Chicago. Your bosses are running scared. Thugs like you are going to have to find another line of work.

But, you've got me all scared. Forty years of competition in NRA Hi-Power, Wimbledon and Palma has given me a certain skill set. 600 yards over iron sights. 1,000 with a scope. (You don't get that kind of practice with a record.) I've been carrying since you were a stain on the sheets. It took a long time for you grade school bullies to use up my tolerance.

There are whole bunches, as witnessed by the vast majority of posters, here, who don't care if you go home at night. So keep up the echo chamber of Us vs. Them. It can only end well. You're bluffing, with a pair of deuces.

Your job exists on civilian tolerance. You might think yourself as irreplaceable. One minor temper tantrum on the street, an IPhone clip, your "command voice" at the mayor's mother, and the Mob will have your head. It's indicative that you haven't yet tumbled to this fact. Nobody loves you, anymore.

I thought you seemed a bit unhinged, now I can see that you are downright deranged. The whole country isn't going to cheer, just you and your "black lives matter" butt-buddies.

You'll be smiling, but I would judge by the level of discourse that you have displayed thus far that you usually have a slack-jawed rictus on your face.

The issue arises as decent, hard-working, courteous, and law-abiding people are mistreated again, and again, and again. It is very easy low-hanging fruit to bully honorable people who aren't criminals...and it is getting very tiresome.

Years ago, when a police officer was near you in traffic, it was no big deal. They were of no concern to normal, everyday, regular people. Now it is becoming a shakedown for money. Can anyone honestly say they are "comforted" when a police officer is driving directly behind them anymore? It was a non-event just 20 years ago.

Just like the $250.00 fine for a burned-out license plate bulb you described. Or any number of fabricated ridiculous charges that a regular person will not be able to take off from work to properly settle in a court of law.

Smart police departments should be working NOW to mend "virtual fences" with residents, visitors, and businesses in their towns. They darn well should be getting out of their cruisers and WALKING a beat to engage folks in Anytown, USA. For goodness sake, they can leave the tactical / tacticool gear in the squad car trunk, too.

You have many problems that are about to overtake you. The very least of them will be people like me. They will be people like yourself. Best of luck with the environment you’re creating.

Disarm the police so they cannot be used against federales?..................

I don't believe even for a minute that local police would side with the citizens in a civil disturbance.

Federal agencies have always been better armed than the locals. This sort of stuff is not invincible, just problematic. It would likely give aggressors a false sense of security.

It sure does. That is why I don't count on them for much help. I have seen few example of government dweebs doing the right thing. They mostly protect their own sense of lordship.
