Turkey should be kicked out of NATO for downing the Russian jet near the Syrian border Tuesday because the country "is trying to establish their own Ottoman Empire again," retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely told Newsmax TV.
"They're moving very much to the Islamic State â and they've been no help in supporting the opposition forces against Assad," Vallely said, referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, on "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "They've been hitting a lot of the Kurds, as you know, up north in Syria and the northern part of Iraq."
Despite the downing of the jet, Russian President Vladmir Putin "controls the chessboard" because of his strong military presence amid great turbulence in the region, he said.
"So, here's Russia attacking [the Islamic State], Turkey's been supporting many of the ⦠Islamic groups, much to their detriment," Vallely told Malzberg. "It's absolutely a whole area of confusion, and that is what's going to happen each and every time."

Personally, I think Vallely nails it. This is the Ottoman Sunnis versus the Iranian Shiites.
Turkey was the last empire to rule the region, and I assume it doesn’t want the Shiites to be the next.
Obama’s background, by the way, would be Sunni. Both Indonesia and Kenya are predominantly Sunni Muslim.
He doesn’t show much respect to the god of his fathers.
Not just for downing one jet but for killing the pilots which is against the Geneva Convention and for shooting down the rescue helicopter.
I don’t think the Turkish military shot the pilots or the rescue chopper. I think that occurred in Syria via “rebels”.
Yep, with weapons supplied by Obammy.
There still seems to be some controversy over whether the pilots were ‘shot’.
“Obamaâs background, by the way, would be Sunni. Both Indonesia and Kenya are predominantly Sunni Muslim.”
And yet he is willing to give Iran the ability to build a bomb which could just as easily destroy Mecca as Jerusalem.
No, wipe islam from turkey or wipe turkey from the map.
It’s a puzzle, isn’t it?
Obama seems to be Sunni.
Valerie Jarrett seems to be Shiite (born in Tehran).
Obama has made mention of a wish to unite Sunni and Shiite, if I remember correctly. Not an easy task. And I imagine some of the actors (like Turkey) may not want Sunni and Shiite to unite. But I think the Big Players are trying to implement a once in a millenium plan here. Very complicated business.
Any link for the union comments from Obama? Serious question. I’d like to read it. It’s similar to what I was wondering.
Jarrett is Shiite. They both take their orders from the CFR. They can tweak the edges of foreign policy, but not the core elements of it.
LOL! Always love your shoops, MM. ;)
I did a quick search for Obama discussing Shiite / Sunni unification and came up empty. I thought he made an oblique reference during his recent G20 news conference, but now I don’t see it. Maybe its my imagination — but it is a touchy subject and I would expect people to be very subtle about their intentions.
Batface Valjar is Shiite?
It is going overboard to see shooting down a Russian plane over Turkish soil to be an attempt to create the Ottoman Empire. What was Vallely's reaction when Russians or pro-Russian Ukrainians shot a passenger plane out of the sky over Ukraine in 2014? Was that an attempt to recreate the Soviet Union, or the Russian Empire?
I am not pro-Turkish (some of my relatives were enslaved by the Turks, and I'm aware of the crimes they committed against the Armenians and others), but they were our allies during the Cold War and fought alongside us in Korea. To kick them out of NATO over one incident when we don't have all the facts yet is over-reacting. The Russians are not our friends.
Thank you. the question now is how long it may be before Obie reads about this incident in the newspaper!
Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran in 1956. She grew up speaking Persian and French. Her family moved to London when she was 5. She is basically African-American — her father moved to Iran in the 1950s.
I don’t know what she is officially, but everything she seems to do seems bent on helping the fundamentalists in Iran.
I personally think the Ukraine is part of a bigger war that Russia is in. Ukraine is on the Black Sea. Directly across from the Black Sea is Turkey. Turkey supports ISIS. ISIS wants Syria. Syria is Russia’s ally. If Syria were to fall to ISIS, given Turkey’s apparent support of ISIS, ISIS then is one country away from the Ukraine Fleet.
If ISIS was to gain a foothold in Ukraine, Russia can kiss its butt goodbye. Which may explain Russia’s reluctance to leave Ukraine. Also, Russia shot down a Malaysian airliner. I know this is a coincidence, but Malaysia is a Muslim country.... Sunni Muslim.
Timfoil hat time. Is is possible the Malaysia Air flight Russia shot down had someone important on board that was a target?
