In 1977 I stopped a burglar from entering the home of my friend who lived across the street from me.
He wasn’t home, but his elderly mother was and she was scared.
All I had to do was sneak up on him as he balanced himself on a garbage can while trying to break in through a window, a put the muzzle of my Mossberg 12 Ga. in his back and asked him if he was a peeping tom or a burglar.
My buddy showed up moments later and took him to the local precinct (I think).

I take it it was a case of “Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no tales.”

Many years ago I was living in Washington, D.C. in a little apartment above a dry cleaners. Late one night I prevented a home invasion by answering the door with a cocked Ballester-Molina .45 in my hand. Nobody was hurt and I never called the police, but I moved to a safer neighborhood a few weeks later. I guess there are thousands of similar incidents every year.
